So, tonight's Raw after Wrestlemania saw the debut of ESPN baseball announcer Adnan Virk as the new lead voice for Raw, along with a reshuffling of the commentary table with Corey Graves moving from Smackdown to Raw (replacing Samoa Joe). I thought he did well in calling the action, with my one "needs improvement" being that his cadence should be a bit louder for calling wrestling. The way he commentates is fine for baseball, but could use improvement in a combat sports setting like wrestling.
Your thoughts on Mr. Virk's first night?

He’s fine. No real complaints either way.
I’m trying to place what his cadence and tone reminds me of, and the only name coming to mind is Mike Adamle, but you know, not terrible.

Definitely will give it more time. To me, he seems like a fresh breathe of air. Really does feel like an ESPN baseball game for now.
I guess Smackdown will be Joe, Cole and Phillips.

He sounds like Regis to me. I thought he did fine for his first night, it was really weird hearing his call style which is so different than what I'm used to in WWE. At one point there was a graphic for a tag match and he said "This is sure to be a great tag team match coming up" and I had to do a double take because I can't remember the last announcer in WWE that EVER said anything like that the last few decades hahahahah
Also dude was ready to rush the ring to get the ropes for Charlotte hahahah

Tom is moving to 205 (Its somehow still a)Live and other projects according to a WWE press release. No word on Joe other than her use still on the roster.

As I said in the live thread, he reminds me of what would happen if Michael Cole was voiced by Joey Styles.
Take that for what you will.

I've been in a coma, what happened to Cole?

I didn't mind him at all. Never seemed to catch on to the proper way to pronounce Xavier Woods' name. He was a nice change of pace, though. Wonder how long til he's getting his ear screamed off and all that changes.

I've been in a coma, what happened to Cole? He’s on Smackdown ever since the Fox move. Adnan’s replaced Tom Phillips, who’s on 205 Live now.

Virk reminds me of Vink. Whatever happened to that guy?

He managed to say 'audience' rather than 'WWE universe', so that was nice.

When he was on ESPN, he always sounded like he was talking while holding his nose.

All Virk, and no play-by-play, makes Cole still sound stupid.

Wasn’t impressed. He came across as a fish out of water imo.

I don’t know why they keep trying to lose Tom.

Did he sneak in a "Welcome to Tangier!" at all? Probably too off-script for Vince's liking but I'd be amused if he snuck in some shout out to the LeBatard army.

Checked out a bit of Raw and I thought he did very well for his first night on the job. Like others have said, the lack of Vince-isms felt like a breath of fresh air, though I'm sure that'll be "corrected" shortly.
Wonder what Vince's deal with Tom is. He seems like a perfect fit for what Vince wants his lead guy to be. Maybe they're going to try to build up 205 a bit? Nah, probably not.
