Can't elaborate for obvious reasons, but Vince's reputation is pretty much cemented as one of the single most immoral and corrupt people to exist within his lifetime. Yikes. You might be able to make a case if you said 'as a businessman' (although that's a very crowded field). As a human? He isn't in the top one million most immoral people to have lived in his lifetime.

Wouldn't they be opening themselves up to all kinds of lawsuits though? They've opened themselves up to all kinds of lawsuits now from it so it doesn't seem to make that much of a difference to them. Yeah I guess that's true. WWE is basically Teflon when it comes to lawsuits for whatever reason.

He's not exactly in the Top 100 Million most moral either. Even recently with Covid, how the company behaved was literally putting people's lives at risk. Let's not forget him firing people during a pandemic. You've got him literally abandoning workers in a foreign country over a dispute involving him. Hell the Saudi shows anyway are pretty much blood money shows. Younger Vince turned up at Police Station with a suitcase and got the murder charges against his wrestler dropped. What do you think was in that suitcase ? How the WWE treated Martha after Owens death. It all comes from the top. All the dead wrestlers due to his work practices. None of that speaks to him as a decent human being. More a sociopath who views people as objects to be used.

You take the good, you take the bad, you put them together, and there you have the facts of Vince.

But even the most harshest view of Vince's 'crimes', wouldn't put him anywhere close to being 'one of the single most immoral people to exist in his lifetime'.

I desperately wish I could remember him as the 1980s, 90s "1 2 3 he got 'im NO" commentator but fate and his own ego wouldn't allow that.
He is a disgusting human being, if he can even be called a human being. The Katie Vick angle, constant embarrassments of JR, Kiss My Ass Club, proposed incest angle with Stephanie far and many other real life heel acts outweigh any good this person has done in their lifetime. He should be remembered as a failure. Sure, he succeeded with WWF/WWE but he failed with WBF, WWE films, XFL (twice), failed as a faithful husband, he failed to show people a basic human decency over the last 20+ years. As a business person he succeeded far beyond what many people can even dream about though he did so with never paying back those he owed during his 1970s bankruptcy. As a human with regard to anyone other than himself he is an failure and should be remembered as such.

He is the most important/ successful person in pro wrestling history and Noone will ever reach the heights in pro wrestling like he has.
Outside of WWE he can be shady, but not close to being one the worst people in the world.
He also might be remembered as someone who stayed in charge too long. Like a head coach of any sports teams who has had a very successful past but has stayed on the sidelines too long.

I absolutely hate Vince McMahon, and I can say with confidence he is the greatest promoter of all time. The man makes millions while offering a product that has hemorrhaged fans, and hasn't produced a new bonafide star in years (because he won't let it happen).
He's neither creative. Nor a genius.

As the greatest and strangest promoter that loves the smell of money and making haters cry themselves to bed... it turns him on I've never understood this idea that Vince McMahon doesn't care about how people see him and feeds off the hate. This is the man who, as I said in my post a few pages back, rewrote wrestling history to make himself the benevolent hero and saviour - the way he's portrayed in non-kayfabe WWE productions is like A Burns For All Seasons - and has publicly given himself awards for his success.
He absolutely cares.

Your best friend and mentor if you work for him, your worst enemy if you don't. Or, as it applies to some of the talent "Away from me, you go to the top, You stick with me, you're never heard from again!" Er...wait...

Yes, Vince McMahon inherited (or bought from his father) a wrestling promotion and grew it into the global powerhouse it seems to be today. However, he also endeavoured to destroy the foundations of pro wrestling and strip it of its sports roots (I primarily blame Kevin Dunn for this, but the horse is out of the barn now.) It is impossible to measure the impact of his death, when it comes, on the business as a whole, but I am confident that it will recover with other promotions taking up the slack and, perhaps, returning some of the older-style elements to the business as a whole. WWE, in the meantime, might struggle somewhat to regain its footing for a while, but may also be able to carry on under the vision of the next generation (hopefully, with people who appreciate the art form and who are willing to work tightly within that vein.)
