I'm sure the writers of the Simpsons had Bret Hart on the show because he was a nobody who couldn't draw. Isn’t he the only wrestler to be a guest The Simpsons?

Bret pretty much carried the WWF post Hogan. Heck every time the next top chosen face of the company like Luger, Diesel and you could almost make the argument about Shawn too thay they would always go back to Bret to help carry the load.

I don't know if Bret was the only wrestler on the show, but Bret is certainly the only wrestler to get his own officialy released Simpsons action figure.

Yeah no, Eric. Bret was a massive draw in Europe and Canada, and he and Shawn Michaels are the only reasons WWE didn't go bankrupt by 1996. He may not have drawn new fans the way Hogan did but there would be no WWE now without Bret around to stop the bleeding. Cena was kind of the same. Maybe he didn't create a boom period but he sure as hell prevented a bust. And if nobody cares about Bret then why was the Screwjob such an infamous moment in wrestling history that we still talk about nearly 25 years later? I want the drugs Bischoff is on. Bishoff also makes himself look like an idiot. If Bret was so bad then why the hell did he spend so much money to sign him??? This is the same man who tries to claim Luger signed with him for a piddling amount and that Bischoff worked him, when it's known that's a complete crock of shit. Bischoff is a strange dude sometimes.

So unsuccessful he signed him to a three year deal worth nearly eight million dollars.

"Bret Hart the least successful Champion in history" - says the guy who paid him $1 million dollars more a year than WWF was paying him to come to WCW.

I believe we should have a catch-all thread called "Eric Bischoff says a lot of things"

And yet Vince McMahon, the most successful wrestling promoter in history, made him his world champion five times.
Go figure.

What a load of bullocks!
Bret was the man during the height of my wrestling fandom.
The older I get, the less I care about any champion's drawing power as it only benefits the wrestling company's bottom line, not my personal enjoyment of the performer.

I believe we should have a catch-all thread called "Eric Bischoff says a lot of things" I listen to Eric's 83 Weeks Podcast every week. That thread would be endless because Eric comes up with some doozies on a weekly basis. At this point I only listen to see what lies this one trick pony will come up with this week. On a recent episode Eric was left with massive amounts of egg on his face when he tried to blame Bill Watts for the initial Harlem Heat slave gimmick when Watts had been out of the company for several months at that point. That was something that happened on Eric's watch and when Conrad pointed it out Eric had to apologise repeatedly for the remainder of the episode and on the following weeks episode. Eric can't wait to say "I was gone by that point" whenever Conrad mentions a terrible WCW idea, even if the timeline doesn't match up and it was clearly something he was there for. Eric also LOVES blaming Russo for things that happened way before Russo got to WCW or happened way after Russo was shown the door. Eric says the ONLY reason he signed Bret is because Thunder was launching and they needed all the star power they could get for a second 2 hour prime time show. He has said repeatedly that Bret was never a draw although he does respect Bret's in ring ability.

I tend to think Bret Hart is a tad overrated, but Eric Bischoff is so full of shit, even by pro wrestling standards.

Well, he is, and he isn't, it all depends on how you view it. Business was in the crapper for WWF when Bret was champ, so going by that logic, he is one of the least successful. However, Bret is also one of the reasons why WWF survived at all, being a draw internationally, so by that logic he was actually very successful.

For me he is better than flair or Michael’s. But too many they don’t consider him in the top ten in ring workers. I think a lot of people forget about him.

They had a roster of over 80 people. Enough to do the WW3 match and still not use everyone. 1. It shows he couldn't make stars on his own because he could have made stars out of the underutilised guys. 2. It showed why you never sign guys to limited dates because guys would refuse to work 3. They used Bret on Nitro anyway. If he had been exclusive to Thunder then it would have made sense. 4. Did they actually hire more people or was it just Bret? Seemed to be putting a lot of faith into someone who "wasn't a draw."

It's really strange that he wouldn't point to "We wanted to sell tickets in Canada", which would have been a hell of a lot more honest.

Person who (ostensibly) wrote a book called Controversy Creates Cash wants us to talk about him, so comes out with nonsensical garbage to keep his name on people's minds.
