And that's counting Becky Lynch who's been out for a year and Lacey Evans who's going to be out for a year, as well as Reckoning who hasn't wrestled since December and Nikki Cross who's only had two matches this year.
And this crew that basically consists of 18 people at the moment is supposed to sustain three divisions.

It's like in GM mode in the PS2 games when you try and have a women's division with the like 7 total women they actually had in the game.

And the worst part is Tamina and Nia Jax are two of the remaining ones. Is Kloudy or Harvina still available to fill in a couple of spots?

I found this picture shared in a Discord I'm a part of on the state of the Smackdown Women's Division, and it's painting a pretty grim picture: Realistically, Bianca has maybe ONE feud there before she's out of people to face already. Smackdown desperately needs new blood.

This week was actually The Shakeup from 2016-2018 so yeahhhh, wouldn't be surprised to get some call-ups.

The fact that on NXT this week they played it off as Io was gone from the brand indicates to me that there is a pretty good chance she debuts on Friday, or they at least give her the vignette treatment.

By comparison while they're not all active, NXT presently has 18 listed on its roster page. So not a gigantic amount of room to pillage from them either unless you want to just start calling up a bunch of performance center people at once.
If anyone's curious about an outside frame of reference, AEW's roster page lists 22, though it has a few who haven't showed up in ages like Kong and it's missing some who are regulars like Reba, so it's hard to put an exact number on it.

What's even more worrisome is that some of these women will be used as fodder because they gotta build up superstars. Imagine if Dakota gets brought up, she's going to be losing all her matches to make someone look better.

As someone who keeps entirely too good a track of the AEW women's roster, I'd say they have 23 wrestlers who are seem to be signed or committed in some capacity (including the likes if Diamante, KiLynn King, Ryo Mizunami, and Thunder Rosa but excluding Kong and Mel), and about 40 to play with if all recurring jobbers (who have been to multiple tapings) are counted. More on topic, that latest class of NXT recruits is really, really good. Zayda Ramier, Gigi Dolin, Zoey Stark, and Cora Jade, are all good enough that I could see them rising to the occasion pretty well. EDIT: Had to check some of the NXT names for the newbies...

Becky Lynch 5. Bianca Belair 6. Carmella 7. Charlotte Flair 8. Dana Brooke 9. Lacey Evans 10. Lana 11. Liv Morgan 12. Mandy Rose 13. Naomi 14. Natalya 15. Nia Jax 16. Nikki Cross 17. Reckoning 18. Rhea Ripley 19. Ruby Riott 20. Sasha Banks 21. Shayna Baszler 22. Sonya Deville 23. Tamina In the last two years they’ve released or not resigned Chelsea Green, Deonna Purrazzo, The IIconics, Kairi Sane, Maria Kanellis, Mickie James, Sarah Logan, Taynara Conti, and Zelina Vega (plus Charly Caruso, Renee Young, Sarita, and Serena Deeb). Lots of turnover in the division.

There are so many girls in NXT's developmental that you'd THINK there will be a number of callups to fill the main roster out so those developmental girls can start also getting TV Time and development themselves... but WWE hasn't exactly been great at booking the girls for awhile now... outside of NXT of course.

I still don't understand not using the Women's tag titles in NXT more often, as opposed to making new tag belts just for NXT so they have more tag teams to break up when they hit Raw or Smackdown.

I loved Smackdown’s division in 2016 when they had about 6 full time women. The number isn’t so much my issue, it’s the lack of attention and effort. You’ve got teams breaking up left, right and centre, and then randomly put together teams with no story behind them. Matches have been shortened again. They did the played-out “opponents team together to face the champs” story leading up to Wrestlemania...twice! I want to see women associated with male superstars, a women’s stable (or two, or three), promos and storylines and gimmicks and reasons to care about the women. Steady booking. And the worst part is Tamina and Nia Jax are two of the remaining ones. Still baffled Natalya/Tamina were the challengers at Wrestlemania. I thought they did it because they wanted to give Tamina a thank you reign before she retires...but then they lost. Tamina gets gassed after a minute or two and Nia is damn near immobile after her injuries. The spot where Tamina finally slammed Nia was embarrassing.

That list gets a whole lot smaller and more dire when you remove the inactive women whether that is due to pregnancies or just plain not being used at all.

Only?? I mean, they only use 7 or 8 so that's not a problem for them.
Io & Toni Storm are on the way up according some rumors.

I’d have just put those titles on NXT and had contender matches on Raw and Smackdown to build interest towards matches on NXT for a brief time to build a wider division but then the main roster would have to acknowledge NXT actually exists and why would we want that?
