The scores short changed him (and I should have ranked his music better throughout the game) but Futureraven: Beelzebruv is a fantastic player. If he wants to, he should seriously consider judging or hosting a future game.

I think we should really discuss how we can have these games become more frequent but in moderation. To be honest, with so much real life crap interfering, and at the fault of nobody, a 10 month marathon isn't ideal. I think we could fit two seasons in that timespan without going overboard.

It's tough because you have to find the balance between having a brisk game and a game where people have enough opportunities to send in music. It's give and take: you can have a game that lasts three months but, if you do that, most players are going to be eliminated before they can send in more than, what, six or seven songs? Which is fine, if people know that going in.

Host would keep tabs of culminative votes for each stage then make cuts after a stage of the game.

The only problem is that you're relying on people to vote, which they may or may not do. You would also factor in that everyone would de facto vote for themselves.

I mean yes people would vote for themselves, but they would also get to vote for let’s say 4 other songs per round. I don’t know if you, as a mod could see who votes how many times in a poll, but we could have rules that all of a persons votes must be used.

I can't access time stamps but I could keep an eye on it. I'm sure when the time comes, the Host will figure things out appropriately.

It's a pretty thrilling show, and I love it as a way to be exposed to new music. I really especially enjoyed the round themes; each one surprised me and felt fun.
But although this may practically be an impossible issue to actually address, the vagueness about the judges' standards was constantly confusing for me. From the outside looking in, the song rankings seemed completely arbitrary, a lot of the time. I of course know they WEREN'T arbitrary; they were carefully considered. I can look back and kiiinnnda piece together that the players who did well were ones who supplied a good breadth of answers, which makes sense and is probably ideal. Buuttttt it also seems like certain genres were just not ever appreciated by the judges and others were over-appreciated by the judges, and it's like... should the players be paying attention to that? I'm literally asking; I don't know if this is supposed to be part of the game or not.
This isn't some huge problem that ruined my enjoyment or anything, and there were definite attempts to make things clear to the point that they can be made clear. At the beginning of the game, each judge explained their tastes and also said, like, "Look, don't worry about it, just send in songs you like," which, awesome. It's just weird for me to see (just glancing at round 1; please don't make too much of this example) Bo Diddley's "The Story of Bo Diddley," which is an amazing classic that helped invent all of modern music, losing to NOFX and Velvet Revolver and Billie Eilish. And... it's like, I can absolutely understand plenty of valid reasons why people might vote this way, but I have no insight on what they were. Is it that the judges thought it was too obvious or too tangential a pick for the category? They have reasons to appreciate the latter songs because of knowledge or insights of the artists or musical theory or history? They happen to think that particular Bo Diddley song is a little dull? Or is it just none of them really vibe on classic rock n roll?
I really don't mean to make this a big deal. My partner was a music major, so it's common for me to disagree with someone about how good a song is and to have them pretty much be correct and I'm incorrect. I think the judges did a fantastic job, and they clearly are fairly diverse in their music tastes, which is probably the most important thing. (And there was never the sense that the appropriate strategy was to pick whatever's blandest and lowest-common-demoniator.) It just would help to spell out how much players are supposed to go, "Okay, yeah, they obviously like metal, so I'll send in a metal song a little more often" or whatever.
EDIT: One potential suggestion here actually is just adding more judges, so individual genre tastes cancel one another out more. However, given that the main issue people seem to have is how long and huge this thing is already, that miiiiight be impractical.

Personally, I can't play the game that way, I pick what I like in the theme, and let's have it.
Don't think I've ever considered the judge's tastes... maybe this is why I didn't win lol
If we knew what the judges liked, it'd reduce the broadness of what people send in, a judge likes metal, fine here's loads of metal, if you're less sure, just pick what you like and let the cards fall where they may.
