Has the video that Chris Jericho talked about in his autobiography ever surfaced online?

Nope,cause it doesn't exist. Jericho claimed "It's a tape that everybody in tape trading saw and/or had a copy of." I started tape trading in 93/94 never saw anyone with a copy. Talked to all the big time tape traders. No one even heard of this tape until Jericho mentioned it.

If it was out in as many hands as Jericho claimed someone would have found a copy by now. Hell if it was out there in half as many hands as was claimed it would have been found by now.

Sounds like Jericho simply lying and he will eventually become the Hulk Hogan of generation X or Y. He's a guy who was never content with being as great as he was, he always wanted a bit more attention and doesn't care about lying to make himself seem more important or interesting.

I don't doubt that a crazy wrestling fan would approach someone with a tape like that but I highly doubt it was Jericho. It would most likely be a southern born or famous in the south wrestler.

Hasnt Lance Storm confirmed the existence of it as well?

I'm sure it existed but it's probably something that is lost media at this point because who would archive that. Also Lance Storm said he had a copy of it at one point as well.

Yeah, I mean... the Corman Fantastic Four, and the Star Wars holiday special were both out in the wild for years... one never got released anywhere and the other aired on television once...

I mean it'd be rarer than them since it's apparently a home video (unless I'm remembering wrong) but someone would be able to come up with a copy of it and stick it on the internet.

If it's just a book goof it reminds me of reading the bizarre tangents Foley went on in Hardcore Diaries, I read it when I was younger like "Wait did he really meet John Kerry what is this five page thing here"

He also claimed that he filmed the Cornette Dairy Queen rant when it was Ron Head in the van with the camera

Lance said he had a copy and never produced it. Still say it doesn't exist.

The thing is if it existed stuff like that was passed around and copied a bunch. So far only 2 people have claimed to have a copy. Neither have produced a copy. Hell if it existed Cornette would have a copy. And when he has been asked about it he had never heard of it. Still saying it's something Jericho made up to have a good story for his first book. Storm is just playing along since he is a long time friend of Jericho.

Look at the infamous Midolathan,might have spelled that wrong,wrestling show. Known as "The worst wrestling show ever". That was filmed by some guy from DVDVR. He made a few copies. One of which ended up in Nova's hands. And Nova started showing it to everybody in ECW.

That show is/was up on Youtube.

Exactly that is something that would be given to say the Rock N Roll Express or in modern times Damien Wayne.

Hell in the modern era popular wrestler on the southern circuit get some odd/strange/gross videos sent to them thru FB Messenger and Twitter DMs from fans.

Like the mom and daughter that at shows are known for inviting some of the wrestlers "To join us in the back of the truck" after shows.

Or hell Smelly Sue that goes to SWA events. Use to be Koby or I after SWA shows would keep our phones ready to send a text so whatever wrestler Sue targeted that show would have a reason to leave the floor and head to the locker room. Now that I think about it I'm not even sure what Sue's real name is. She got nicknamed Smelly Sue by one of the southern vets. "She has been stank since she was a teenager 20 years ago when I started."

I had a little look around on Google, and Jericho claimed on Twitter over a decade ago that the tape had been found and it would go onto YouTube. Then it didn't.

So yeah, until I see some unequivocal evidence that it exists, I'm inclined to believe that it doesn't.

Lance Storm has backed up having a tape himself as well, and I think at least one other SMW wrestler stated that the tape did exist... wish I remember who the wrestler was though cause he made a point of saying a lot of the stuff Jericho claimed happened in his time in SMW did happen... just not to Jericho

Yeah, I see no reason to doubt the existence of the tape. It just wasn't the trading sensation that Jericho makes it out to be.

Also, here's what Lance Storm said about the video shortly after the book's release in 2008.

“I had a copy of the SKP video but I cant’ find it. I too read the book in public (sitting in my drive way, watching my kids play) and everyone thought I was nuts for laughing out loud so much while reading.”

Also, Smokey Mountain Wrestling alumni KC O'Connor wrote a lengthy response to the book pointing out all of Jericho's memories and moments that he disputed, but said that the video was real:

"He didn't tape Corny at the drive thru, either, although he was in the car that night. J.R. Benson and Ron Hed, the sickies from CA, taped it. The Strange Kentucky People tape is 100 percent true. Even down to R&R and Jesus pics in the living room. Scariest thing I've ever seen."

Thinking a bit more about it, I guess anything is possible. I posted about an Atlantis CMLL wrestling buddy many years ago on a toy board and got reamed for lying with many saying the item never existed. Someone posted a Figures Inc catalog which showed the item was for sale but many still doubted it as no pictures were shown. It wasn't until about a year later when someone posted a picture of a fan's room with the wrestling buddy that I finally got to say "told you so."
I think there are probably some rare things that may never see the light of day.

Yeah, I think Jericho was probably overstating or miswording the tape's significance, but given the names who've corroborated his story I'm willing to bet the tape is real and that it was something he only showed a handful of people and/or made *a* copy of for Lance since he's mentioned in it as well.

I don't recall Jericho playing this up?

He wrote that if you wanted to see this tape, you'd have to go to Kentucky and really search for it in video stores.

Not sure if I'm remembering it right though.
