Rodgers has an all world WR, maybe the best in the game, a good RB with two decent backups and two young WR with great potential in Lazard and Scantling. They just drafted three offensive linemen and another WR. Whats he looking for? More money despite the team being cap strapped already and a cuddling of his massive ego.

The 2020 Packers had six AP All-Pros and seven Pro Bowlers. It’s not like Aaron Rodgers was dragging the Jacksonville Jaguars to the NFC Championship Game.

Yes, everyone knows about the Seahawks' O-line woes. I just don't think that QBs who have had to deal with actual lacking pieces around them would agree with a WR that a lot of people think is unfair would count as a "shit supporting cast." Then again, it was just another post where Mecca bends over backward to pat the Cheifs on the back, so who gives a shit? Just saying there's a pretty big difference in these teams and how they handle business. It's a running joke on social media. Mahomes runs for his life one time, Chiefs acquire completely new line in 1 year. Russell Wilson runs for his life for 5 years Seattle still doesn't fix the line. That's actually pretty fair. The Cheifs are also in an enviable position of having an all-time great QB with prpbably the best offensive mind in the game while being a short list contender. There will always be a rolling list of skill position players who will take pay cuts to go there that they might not for Seattle or GB. Though I will say, they also draft well and the Brown trade was nothing short of genius.

Rodgers has every right to demand what he wants The Packers were only ever good because of Rodgers despite them never drafting or signing talent for him. It is real simple, trade him. GB made their decision last year when they decided to trade up to draft a QB. A-Rod and Farve situation is not the same. So what should the Packers have done to appease Rodgers? Outspend to re-sign the likes of Jordy Nelson ($15 million to the Raiders) and Randall Cobb ($5 million to the Cowboys)? Because they cut ties with them at the right time, right as they started tailing off. Not draft a quarterback in the first round when the then-36-year-old Rodgers had just thrown for his fewest touchdowns and had his lowest quarterback rating in back-to-back seasons since 2008? Not use draft picks to try to *gasp* build a defense or offensive line, rather than placate Rodgers with WeApOnS like that beloved all-world talent Jake Kumerow? The Green Bay Packers will exist after Aaron Rogers retires, that's why the Packers drafted their heir apparent in Jordan Love. Sorry if that caused a 36-year-old man to turn into a three-year-old child and throw a tantrum, but those are the facts. There needed to be a succession plan for life after Rodgers. Look at the Patriots - they had no concrete succession plan for life after Tom Brady, they threw Cam Newton at the wall and hoped he stuck, struggled to a 7-9 season, and are now relying on Mac Jones to be the savior. Conversely, look at how Tom Brady handled it when the Patriots drafted his (supposed) successor in Jimmy Garoppolo in 2014. He didn't pout and demand a trade, he recommitted himself and put together a six-year run that was among the best in his career and won three Super Bowls before leaving on his own terms. If Rodgers wants to go play in Denver or Las Vegas, the Packers should await a king's ransom and accept it when it comes. Because the bounty should be plentiful if those draft picks are two or three years down the line when a 39- or 40-year-old Rodgers is on his way out or already retired. First of all, Tom Brady is the anomaly of all anomalies in the NFL so it's hard to look at any situation and say "Well has that guy tried to be like Tom Brady?" But also when the Packers were actually contenders, they were able to build and actual OL and defense while drafting guys like Cobb and Nelson. It wasn't a merely either/or situation until their drafting and development fell off. As someone who is going to be a Patriots fan regardless of who is at QB, you should know how it works but you still want to act like Rodgers is a "three year old child" for holding the front office accountable for what their own fans have already banged the drum about being incompetence. They're gonna love Rodgers until he wears another uniform and then they're gonna think he's the worst guy ever until they get over it. It's not like we haven't seen that 1,000 times in sports. What were your thoughts on Johnny Damon as a Yankee? Probably exactly the same playbook. We didn't need that guy, we were better off without him, he wasn't that great there, he was never really with us, he chased the money, and then after a while it wasn't really that big of a deal. Can we just acknowledge that when a guy makes a professional decision that it's 99% of the time the fans who act like children screaming about what a bad guy he is and burning jerseys and on and on, when a guy is just saying "I'd rather not play for this mistake-laden FO who is wasting the last great years of my career"? Because that's not a wholly unreasonable thing to say or do.

I won't claim that his front office hasn't ever let him down over the last decade, but his stans in the media and now the man himself is crafting this "everyone's fault but his" narrative that is really starting to crawl up my ass.

Aaron Rodgers referred to the Packers GM as Jerry Krause today in a zoom call...that's cold, very cold.

I'm thankful we have this delicious and petty Rodgers vs Packers bullshit to fill the void between the draft and the preseason

Because the bounty should be plentiful if those draft picks are two or three years down the line when a 39- or 40-year-old Rodgers is on his way out or already retired. That wasn’t too much to retain Cobb, though letting Nelson leave at that price was a given. As far as what should have they done, I would say that he’s earned the right to have input on offensive personnel. Not final say, but input. Most franchise QBs get that level of access at some point in their career. That’s probably the downside of not having a majority owner. An owner would have probably made sure Rodgers was given the same sort of institutional respect you see anyone else in his position gets. As far as drafting Love goes, I’m not saying they shouldn’t have done it. I will say that he should not have learned about the pick by watching the draft. A heads up call should have at the very least been made.

Schefter admitted his report on Rodgers was based off absolutely nothing.
So how long does ESPN keep him after this?

Short of selling company secrets to Fox or committing a violent crime, Schefter is bulletproof.

In other news, the league can EAD for how they've decided to treat the JaWuan James situation.
For those unfamiliar with this story, James, a lineman for the Broncos, recently tore his Achilles while working out at a facility not connected to the Broncos team or the NFL. As such, the Broncos can legally deny James his $10 million signing bonus, as per his contract with the team.
Not that I would exactly blame or point the finger at the Broncos specifically, because the harsh truth is sports is a money game in large part. It has to be treated like a business, especially by team owners. However, the reason I'm mad at the league is that they sent a memo to all 32 teams yesterday, conveniently reminding them that they don't have to pay any bonuses to any player injured away from official team sites. That's some BS that's very close to collusion, and why I'm pointing one particular finger at the shield itself.

Schefter admitted his report on Rodgers was based off absolutely nothing. So how long does ESPN keep him after this? No, he said that it wasn't one thing told to him on that day, more that he had been told things by people for months. If it was based on absolutely nothing, Aaron Rodgers would have been on the Kentucky Derby broadcast the next day loudly saying that the reports were fake and that he would be retiring a Packer. Instead, he said off-screen that he was disappointed the news leaked out. You've also had more reporters since confirm the story in the last week. Now, him saying that he released it without thinking that it was draft day, one of the biggest days of the year for ESPN, is absolutely shady. But that doesn't mean the report itself was fake.

They are very "convincing" about voluntary OTAs/workouts, but if they can get out of paying a guy who is trying to keep himself in shape, they will not hesitate. The owners want a very one-sided league, and for the most part, the union just lets them have that. Like the 17-game season.
