Tony Khan said on Busted Open Radio that Double or Nothing will be the first full capacity event for AEW since the pandemic. It will be at Daily's Place so you can expect 5000 people. I'm fully vaccinated and plan on going. Hopefully people keep masking up like they have at the previous shows there.

If it were me, I probably wouldn’t try at full but on the flip side, it’s likely safer to do it there then UFC did in an indoor venue.
Just have a much stricter mask policy then they had and it’ll already be better than UFC.

I just don't see how they can put it off anymore. Mania, UFC, so many people being vaxxed, I just can't see how they can keep pushing it to some other date. June? July?
I would go, wear a mask, and hope no one touches me with their germs.

Do I think they need to do it right now? No. Do I get why they're doing it? Yes.
I think it's going to be jarring to see arenas full for a bit, but I get why they're pulling off the band-aid. I still don't trust Florida for obvious reasons, but I get it.

Really "ehhhh" about it being full capacity. Being outdoors helps, but if I was AEW, I'd make sure everyone's masked. And try to make sure as many people are vaccinated as possible.
Though at least they're not UFC or the Texas Rangers.

A key is both the mask policy and mask enforcement. I'm very certain they'll have a mask mandate. But as we've seen across the sporting world, a mandate is only as good as you enforce it. It seems like the fans they've had have generally been good about wearing it. But they'll need to up the number of ushers they use who monitor the mask wearing. And not to get too political, but wrestling fans in general usually lean a little more left than say MMA or football fans and that has been a real indicator of willingness to wear a mask when asked or required.

Their own talent barely wears face masks at ringside so imagine trying to enforce that with fans

Their own talent barely wears face masks at ringside so imagine trying to enforce that with fans The food and drink thing definitely makes it harder to enforce. If I’m at a sporting event having a couple beers, I’m probably not pulling my mask up after every sip either. But I’m in Manitoba, it’s irrelevant, we’re still under pretty heavy lockdown.

I hope the mask rule is strictly adhered to for fans, and that they leave some space between the front row and the ring. That was the main thing that freaked me out about Wrestlemania, tbh.

This seems like it’s perhaps one PPV too soon to do full capacity, but at least it’s outdoors.

I am super hyped at the idea of hearing a big crowd again.
Hope it doesn't kill anyone!

I've also been going to baseball games in NYC recently and they require you to either show a negative COVID test within the last 24 hours or your vaccine card (with you being fully vaccinated for at least two weeks). This could be a good best practice to adopt for large scale wrestling events like this, especially as more people get vaccinated. The problem is the Florida governor issued an executive order that bans businesses from requiring proof of vaccination before gaining entry. I suppose you could say that it's not a strict requirement given a test would be enough but we'll have to wait and see on that.

Not even trying to be political with it, it's just...stuff like that would make organising these sorts of things less of a damn gamble if they're going with the whole "We're going to let people do what they want and hope for the best" strategy they have for pandemic control.

I mean there are states which are lifting restrictions on businesses and events completely now, there are more than this having full capacity events at much larger numbers like NASCAR is planning to soon as well and other baseball teams are planning to move to much higher if not 100 percent capacity soon like Atlanta
So I think this is fine, AEW's been pretty good about this. My thing is, I'm curious if they go with the old setup of fans around the ring (Some on that higher platform in those bleachers) or if they stick with wrestlers around the ring and fans only getting the seats in the bowl like area.

Yeah. In full agreement. My thoughts on why we're in the situation we're in are definitely crossing into the political territory, but it's safe to say that the pandemic being politicized has set the U.S. back months. Anyways, back to AEW. I'm excited for there to be a live crowd as it definitely brings a different energy.

Double or Nothing is on May 30th.
I still don’t see an obvious Omega challenger on this PPV.
Does Tony Khan go Forbidden Door on this one?
Or will it be one of the following:
Kingston? Not feeling it. Christian? Not feeling it. Miro? I would love it but it’s not happening.
