As much as it makes me uncomfortable, I'm slightly assured that Tony has plans in place to make things as safe as possible. He's done a stand up job so far in that department. As for wrestlers being in the crowds before: A) they have all been tested many times and B) they'd be wrestling each other anyways, so not like there wouldn't be contact throughout anyways.

There are a lot of things you could potentially do with the crowd to ensure safety. Mask mandates, hard plastig dividers throughout the crowd to more seperate certain pods (They did this at the NFL Draft a bit), proof of vaccine/negative test, even offering vaccines at the gate which is something MLB Teams are even doing now.
AEW's been really good at precaution when it comes to COVID, better than most I would even wager to say, so I don't think they'd go into this gung ho and without plans in place.

Boy I hope they’re better at enforcing masks at DoN than they are tonight. Every single crowd shot has some people not even wearing them at all.

Is there any stats on what happened at the UFC show in terms of spread? Like we all assumed it was a bad idea but it’s been nearly 2 weeks - whats the verdict?
Also - for everyone really crapping on Florida, they are nowhere near the worst state for covid. Not now or throughout the entirety of the pandemic. There is a lot of conjecture being treated as fact in here.

I don’t know how I can still be surprised about how crappy Florida’s been dealing with the pandemic but somehow I am. Just…why? BECAUSE CIVIL LIBERTIES! FREEDOM! Wow. What a stupid asshole.

What's there to be uncomfortable about? They're going to be outdoors and have mitigation steps in place. Sure it's not perfect but, there's always an inherent risk in these kinds of situations.

I don’t know how I can still be surprised about how crappy Florida’s been dealing with the pandemic but somehow I am. Just…why? Because their governor is pretty much every anti-masker, anti-vaxxer trope rolled into one person. Which is likely why, if I'm AEW, I'd wait one more PPV in to the summer. Get the heat going, have the weather helping on top of being outside and just get that younger audience vaccination number up. But hell, gotta pull the plaster off at some point and if they think they can do it safely, it'll certainly be great to see/hear a capacity crowd again

Full capacity, OOF that does scare me a little
Considering I went to Mania a few weeks ago and everything was spread out, I would have hoped they sort of kept that same direction. BUT since they insist on having a full show, they def need to do at minimum what they did at Mania which was fill out a questionnaire and make sure everyone wearing a mask going on. To take it a step further, do what they are doing here in NY for sports and tell people they will not be admitted in without a negative COVID test with a 48 hour timeline
As I said at the beginning of the Pandemic and still saying now, if you think you doing enough you are not so take every precaution.

You have an outdoor venue" and it went from there. That's not to say we know how the UFC experiment went yet but also I can imagine a lot of TV executives and such are having those same conversations, whether they really should or not.

What bothers me isn't just that people weren't wearing masks, but that they even chose to cut to those sections in the first place. Unfortunately, some people not wanting to is an inevitability, but you could always just not show those people.

I know I'm back to using the ac again.

Just because they've been doing live audiences in pods so far and even with people getting vaccines now so many people being next to each other for 3 or more hours, in Florida nonetheless, there are definite risks involved.

I had a look at google weather and it was suggesting it was overcast and humid, and I'd think humidity would be the last thing anyone would want with face masks and sweating and so on. Though granted, this is still a good few weeks away, could be bright and breezy by then!

It makes me wince a bit, but it's probably time.
Vaccines are widely available, if you want one you've probably had it and if you don't then you're taking your chances anyways. More fool you.
I'd mask up for the safety of others, but if I was in the area I'd definitely go.

Hot and humid is the norm there with threats of a random torrential downpour showing up every so often.
At least if they do it this month and don't put it off until the summer, they can avoid most of hurricane season!

That's very, very questionable in light of how hard their Governor has fought to minimize things and actively keep data out of the hands of scientists.

The problem is the Florida governor issued an executive order bans businesses from requiring proof of vaccination before gaining entry. I don’t know how I can still be surprised about how crappy Florida’s been dealing with the pandemic but somehow I am. Just…why? For what it's worth, the nursing home I work at in MA, we were requiring proof for any visitors coming on the floors, but then we were told a few days later that by law, we can't require them to show their card. So that's not necessarily just a Florida thing. At least here, we have more people offering to show us proof.
