Man, I don't know if I like this. I don't think children are physically or mentally mature enough for a pro style grind. Hell there are 22+ that aren't ready for an NFL grind. Then there is the issue of schooling. They also aren't allowed to enter into contacts and while I don't know the specifics on this case, you can't always trust the parents to see past the $$$ or the kids to see it either. You can put in safeguards that will help but you can't always protect from immaturity.

Don't sports leagues tend to have anti-trust exemptions?

The problem with this is that the league and players association don’t have anything in there contract about the age issue. Granted they are in negotiations right now, so that will get throw. In and ta-da problem solved, in theory

Don't sports leagues tend to have anti-trust exemptions? Yes, but it's usually done through legislation rather than there being any kind of blanket precedent that would apply in all respects to all sports leagues. Like, the Sports Broadcasting Act in the 1960s was in response to the NFL's method of negotiation having been declared a violation of antitrust law. There's some merit to the argument here, but it strikes me as more in the nature of an Equal Protection-type argument than an antitrust issue. She could play in the MLS if she were male, but can't play in its equivalent. I don't know if the NWSL receives any sort of government subsidy or funding or anything, but that seems like the better argument to me.

I'm actually surprised that the MLS would allow a 15 year old to play there. Figured you'd at least have to be 18.
