It's fun to see the numbers and realize that AEW is growing, but I try not to read too deep into them, because in the end TNT/Turner are the ones who make the final call. It's super cool to see them be #1 in the demo, though. It means Wrestling finally feels big like it did over 20 years ago. It will probably never reach the cultural heights it did then, but it does mean there's a clear audience for it and it's not just relegated to kids and hardcore fans. If AEW only grows and stays consistent, TNT isn't going to have many reasons to cut it from their programming block, and frankly I don't see it happening. I see a major extension in the works.

True that, I mean, RAW is #1 on Mondays on a regular basis and I also don’t know what to tell people when that happens. We underestimate the size of the casual audience. The IWC is only a tiny spec of the community, even if we are rabid 😂 In fairness, it’s not even causal fans. You don’t have people consistently watch your show for over 30 years, even with how much the audience has gone down, and he considered casual viewers. It’s routine with a lot of people still.

Yeah, they’d have to have rocks in their heads at Turner Towers if they’re not keeping on with this while the getting is good.

Raw's shrinking viewership numbers are as emblematic of the shifting landscape of television viewership as they are of lessened interest in the product. Regardless, they're still number one on cable for most non-football Monday nights.

The IWC is only a tiny spec of the community, even if we are rabid 😂 I'm still waiting to meet someone from this mythical "casual audience". Every wrestling fan I have met in the past 20 years is someone super into it. People that like it absolutely love it, and people that aren't into it think it's stupid and don't watch. I don't even understand IWC being a term anymore since everyone is online. It's not like there are millions of casual wrestling fans running around that don't use the Internet.

Also AEW has shown me something that I kind of new from guys like CM Punk and Daniel Bryan when many saw their levels as upper midcard and they became the 2 closest guys to gain crossover appeal for WWE in years.
It doesn't matter the size of the audience, if you got over in the indies you absolutely can get over on the national stage. The fact that guys like OC, MJF, Darby, and Jurassic Express tend to draw in fans proves that.

Like I get that in modern society everything is for everyone, so clearly there are teenage girls that watch the show and they should care about every fan. That being said, when they are writing these shows, I highly doubt the thought process is "This is great, but how is this going to make teenage girls watch?" It's like expecting Lifetime to say "These movies are great, but we need to get more teenage boys watching them." They certainly CAN and there's nothing wrong with that, but not everything has to cater to every demographic.

Unless there's a huge corporate change AEW will be fine Unless there's a major shakeup and a person in charge thinks six hours of Friends reruns like on TBS will do better, AEW's gonna get a sweet contract from TNT.

I also think their F was down because of stuff like The Challenge, but even then they were number one on cable, they aren't sweating it right now.

Real numbers will be DVR figures when they come out. As per meltzer the live show only accounted for 55% of total viewers last week
