Apparently, WB Interactive/WB Games is being split up by this move. Has to be said, was pretty weird neither were in the investors document considering they were talking about potential IPs and brand synergy and the like.

Has to be said, was pretty weird neither were in the investors document considering they were talking about potential IPs and brand synergy and the like. there are 11 studios under the umbrella... and apparently some of them are going to the new company and some are staying under the AT&T umbrella... some of the affected studios are TT Games (the Lego People), Monolith, Rocksteady, and NetherRealm but there are no details beyond they are being split up... and most have gone radio silent recently. edit: Also... Yeah... I don't see anyone buying a streaming service over like... their house or food...

Ignoring the CEO being weird as CEOs are, that does seem to put the idea in motion of combining Discovery+ and HBO Max which would absolutely not be a bad idea at all.

Release the MythBusters cut! they already did. they spent an extra $70M, busting the myth it was pretty much done. and they did a bunch of reshoots adding in more characters and plot lines, busting the myth it was the original vision for the story. and it didn't bring in anywhere the number of viewers people said it would, busting the myth this was what the world had been waiting years for

Reaction around the Hollywood seems to be very positive. Or rather, relief that AT&T is getting the hell out of the industry. David Zaslav is also a lot more respected as media-savvy and talent-friendly as opposed to AT&T's "bumbling" leadership.

Related to that, Dune has been basically immediately yanked back from being part of the day and date release on HBO Max deal, now instead releasing in cinemas first and then HBO Max “at a later date”. It is entirely possible they kill that entire initiative now and do the same with all the titles they announced for it that haven’t come out yet, or at the least do so with the blockbusters but leave the films expected to do less stay on this path.

Makes sense. Things are rapidly returning to some sense of normal thanks to vaccine rollout, so you'll probably see more first-run movies return to theaters sooner than later.

Fuentes is Head of Comms at WarnerMedia, so that's pretty definitive.

Glad that AT&T is getting out of entertainment, but dreading to see how Discovery is going to handle this. I expect WB Media to become nothing more than a dumping ground for their reality shows now.
The damage is already done, though, and it's immeasurable.

Holy shit, I just realized that this buyout from Discovery means that they also now own TNT. I wonder how this could affect AEW.

Here's the question that I have. Will I still get free HBO Max with my att internet? It's a nice perk that I have.

Too many mergers means that they will be fewer choices for consumers.
