Disco Dick Grayson! Speedy's like "How the hell am I not the silliest dressed here?" The whole page is actually so great that I would blow it up and put it on my wall.

Fine, I'll do it. Hope y'all like Nightwing and the New Teen Titans gang. I love Dick Grayson.

I mean realistically this is a really good idea, they probably should have someone overseeing these films and making them coherently connect to the same universe, you don't need to be an exact carbon copy of the MCU, but it's proven to be a successful pathway if you can do it well enough Idk who they'd hire to be a Feige overseer type, but given how good Suicide Squad was, James Gunn is someone they probably want to keep coming back, if they can.

Gunn has basically stated he doesn't want that role and is perfectly happy just doing his own thing.

they offered that kind of job to Kevin Smith back in late 97 by WB exec Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Kevin turned it down wanting to make Dogma instead. I still dont think Kevin would take that job today.
Also, whatever is happening with this merger better get going with show renewals caus 'Our Flag Means Death' needs to get a season 2 dammit!!

I still dont think Kevin would take that job today. I don't think Kevin would enjoy the business side of it given he's a creative mind more than a businessman. That's not even considering that heart attack almost killed him and then to try and clean up the mess WB has made out of DC's film division.

Kevin Smith would do everything in his power to get the Beeboverse more representation in the movies. He'd be pushing for Grant, Melissa, Candice, Nicole, and pretty much the entire casts of the shows to make appearances.

Every time the question of a new head for DC or Star Wars or whatever comes up people suggest writers or directors, but what studios are looking for is people who are primarily business first. They're looking for a Kevin Feige-type, and Feige himself is more hands-off when it comes to the creative side than people realise.

They need a producer that understands the business of making movies as well as someone who is a fan of the source material.

One of the reasons Geoff Johns hasn't had as big of an impact on the films as fans thought he would. Great creative mind but didn't really have the chops for the film division.

You need a producer who is a fan of DC but not involved with DC. That's why the Marvel council or whatever it was called wasn't working at all before Feige got sole control of the MCU from Bob Iger. It was made of Marvel Comics people like Quesada and Perlmutter who were pushing their own personal agendas instead of focused solely on making the best movies they could in addition to being relative neophytes to movie production. Probably why Johns hasn't really worked out in a similar role at the DCEU.

Right now AEW is not affected for those wondering in case. Still a really shitty development.

I really feel bad for the Warner employees. Imagine surviving the initial merger with AT&T, which was less than five years ago, just to lose your job in this merger because your new bosses decided to condense things so that a line can go up. Hell, imagine surviving this second merger, and having no idea what is going to happen next. The last merger saw DC Comics hacked to the bone, and it looks like this merger might just do the same to TNT and TBS. I can't imagine there's a whole lot of job security under that Warner banner right now.

With the upfront this Monday, this is an interesting development.
Essentially, this isn't so much a merger as much as a CW style 50/50 split venture between BT and Warner Bros Discovery with the BT Sports and Eurosports brands still being kept.
Also ends all the speculation BT Sports' future for the time being, at some point being linked with places like DAZN as new owners.

I don't think it's that big a conflict. It's only really the distribution rights owned by the broadcaster and there's no real reason for the studio NXT UK uses to be used for anything else unless there's a dramatic shakeup. Honestly, not that different to what we have now with WWE content being on Comcast and FOX owned broadcasters or even how NBA/NCAA basketball is split between, like, three major conglomorates (Paramount, Turner and Disney, for the record). Like, if BT owned WWE or WBD owned AEW, absolutely. Maybe Vince might make a flareup but they'd also have to acknowledge NXT UK exists so...
