He's the f***ing God of this shit!
I can't remember the last time I popped this hard for a wrestler turning up.

On a sidenote, Jericho unveiling The Painmaker was unintentionally funny. I think it was pulling out the hat and then the weird angry face afterwards. It was a bit lame and embarrassing, yeah. As someone who endured through Jericho's time in New Japan, the Painmaker is not some unholy version of him in the sense he believes.

“Andrade and Aleister have both been released by WWE and you instantly sign them” yeah ok "You're gonna convince the Big Show to leave the wwe after 20 years of being there? sure thing, buddy. " “So you just hired Tully Blanchard and you’re planning on having him get physical in matches?” This is getting out of hand, man.

We need a Cage / Cage / Page / Page / Gage five-way. Ref’d by Ellis Page, guest commentary by Nicholas Cage and guest ring announcer Bob Saget (because I wanted someone with Sage as their last name but I couldn’t so I’m rolling with it)

Pretty much the perfect time to bring him in. He’s been red hot on the indie scene and he was a subject on DSOTR, a show that’s pretty popular. I never really was the biggest death match guy, at least not indie death matches. I feel like when AEW them does they look crazy but seem relatively safe. But they dude has grown on me the more I watch his promos and his life is just insane. The dude is a character that could only be celebrated in wrestling and I respect him for that. I was stunned when he showed up, but he got an amazing pop so this is gonna be great for him.

I've not seen a Gage match since I was watching CZW shit on Dailymotion in 2006. Jericho is a lot slower than he used to be, I hope he's ready to take some really sick bumps, because this ain't gonna be workrate... That match is gonna be gimmicked to high hell and back. I said it in the live thread, but if there are no gimmicked light tubes, I'm gonna be disappointed.

This alone has gotten me very excited for the rest of this series. If Nick Gage is coming in for this, who knows who else they'll bring?
I'm hoping for a Minoru Suzuki match.

Now I've calmed down a bit, I'd also like to address those with concerns over Gage being in AEW. The whole Nick Gage mythos is essentially a cartoon character, and a very good one at that. Outside of the ring, he has a reputation for being an absolute sweetheart and a beacon of positivity in every locker room he enters. This is a man who has been outspoken in his support of Gay and Trans Rights and who goes out of his way to give kids who come to his shows his time and attention. This is a man who regularly goes around the fans in attendance to thank them after his matches, usually with blood soaked hugs to tell them he loves them too and who has also turned up at shows he's not wrestling at simply out of the love of the business and the need to be around it.
Even the incidents MJF referenced and which Gage has used to enhance his fearsome reputation are actually far tamer in reality. The Arquette incident where he 'stabbed' him was a complete accident and Gage attempted to deal with the situation as professionally as he could with a panicking Hollywood actor on his hands. In the end the match was finished quickly and Arquette was completely fine. Even the Bank Robbery, as much as no one is going to condone what he did, was far more of a cry for help from a man who had found himself at rock bottom, homeless and with a crippling drug addiction than it was a criminal act. He took the opportunity to clean up and has paid his debt to society, surely that's all you can ask for in that situation?
If anyone deserves this second chance, it's Nick Gage, he has a passion for the industry that few have and would probably still be doing this if he was only getting booked in backyards. To see him get to do his thing on a major stage like AEW, even if it's only once will be a great chapter in what is a great redemption story right now. After what he's been through in life, he needs nothing but support and love, so let's give it to him.
I'll leave it to the great Chuck Taylor to sign this off, 'Nick Gage is aggressively nice.'

There was a great moment in the leadup to Gage vs. Cardona where three masked men went after Gage, he took out two of them, then the third started moving around like Moxley and made the GCW crowd lose its mind...only for that masked man to reveal it was Matt Cardona.
Additionally, the story of Gage nearly dying during that CZW show goes that Gage got carted off to the helicopter (with the EMTs begging him to stop cutting promos while he was strapped to the gurney), then Zandig went over to a young Mox and said "go out there and distract the crowd!", leading to Moxley doing an off the cuff promo and then having an impromptu death match that was basically his first real taste of that style of wrestling. In other words, Gage's injury inadvertently created death match Mox.
What I'm saying is: I figure Gage is losing against Jericho, but have it lead to him attacking MJF (because Gage beating up MJF is never not entertaining), then have Moxley appear because their stories are intrinsically connected, and they need to eventually go at it and have their feud spill across both AEW and GCW.

They're definitely leading up to a match, their confrontation at Spring Break after Gage regained the GCW title was genuinely spine tingling.
