That match ruled. It can’t happen often, or it’ll lose its mystique a la HIAC. But it ruled. I hope Gage stays AEW-adjacent as a dangerous mercenary that you do NOT want brought in to face you in a feud. That would be the best use of him in AEW. Like a force of deathmatch judgment coming upon someone, no matter what when they're in the ring with him dude's gonna f*** them up.

I'm all for Nick Gage getting his moment in the spotlight. If you watched his DSOTR episode, and his interview with Van Vliet you would realize there is so much more than meets the eye with this dude. I'll just leave it at that. Also, I'm not going to go through the entire thread to quote the guy, but whoever it was that said (paraphrasing) "I can't believe AEW is giving time to a convicted felon," I hope you have never f***ed up before and wanted a second chance. That is such an ignorant and short-sighted opinion. The dude was in a terrible, terrible place mentally. People shouldn't always be judged on their past. Let the man put food on his table. There is a difference between "putting food on one's table", and being promoted on a TV show that millions of people worldwide watch, especially when his crime was specifically mentioned. He can work and get paid, I have no problem with that. In terms of wrestlers and crimes committed Nick is on the low end of the spectrum.

Gage can't do this every week but he looked like he totally belonged out there. It's weird to say but he's clearly a professional out there, at least for tonight.

The best comparison is the first Moxley/Omega match where compared to his other matches, it wasn't too brutal but for the context of it being on National TV and they were able to pull off the stuff they did, it was mad. The moment I realized this wasn't going to just be conventional and they were going to tone down Gage much was when the light tubes appeared. TNT let them use light tubes. It's maddening to type that and have it be true.

Gage put on two Deathmatches in the span of a few days... then again this is a guy who competed in Deathmatch Tournaments of like what four Deathmatches in a single day?? Still not a shock to see he was a bit slower out there because his Cardona Match was nasty in itself and they pulled no punches here. If Gage were brought in more it'd have to be on a Jimmy Havoc type of stretch where he is vicious and does normal matches and gets hardcore a lot of the time but gets real deathmatchy on more spare occassions so he doesn't just fall over in a heap

I thought the Cardona match was better and much of that was due to the atmosphere but props to both Jericho and Gage for doing that. I hope Gage takes a minute before his next match though, that’s a lot to do to your body in a few days.

As crazy as the match was, was as it any less crazy than the other deathmatches and lights out matches that they’ve had in the past. They had a brutal Texas Death Match LAST WEEK. Blood and Guts was insanely bloody. As was Britt Baker vs Thunder Rosa, The Bunkhouse match, etc. Heck, TNT is probably thinking “those matches got us great ratings, so as long as your safe and no one dies, go ahead.” So I can’t see TNT having too much issue with Gage vs Jericho other than the different types of weapons. Because I don’t think using a pizza cutter or light tubes were ever used on National tv before. But other than the weapons, it still felt like they were working as safe as you could on a mainstream channel and Gage didn’t go nuts as some people would have feared.

If Gage is kept on speed dial to show up from time to time, having him show up & say that MJF never paid him off for bloodying up Jericho and targeting MJF as his next AEW opponent would be pretty great. MJF can do the no deathmatch stipulation to freshen up Gage's appearances.

AEW drew really well this week even against the Olympics so... there's a high chance Gage and the Deathmatch did well.

Dominos not a fan of Gage for the looks of it. Not trusting this story at all. Dave Bixenspan has been poking holes all throughout it in the comments. And the winning reply is this

Dominos not a fan of Gage for the looks of it. Can you blame them? Let's be realistic, if you're a giant corporation like Domino's why would you want any association with someone like Nick Gage or the violence on Dynamite? That's the price you pay bringing in guys like Gage.

Dominos not a fan of Gage for the looks of it. Zero percent chance of it happening given the demographics number being as good as it was, but I guess their point of disagreement, provided this is even true, is that they don't want to appear like they were in on the pizza cutter timing. That's probably the beginning, middle, and end of the story, not the violence otherwise.

My friend Paulie and I watched Dynamite for the first time in a long time for Nick's match. That Dominos ad made us both bust a gut and see Dominos in a more positive light than before. They should have owned it, it was perfect product placement that I'm sure most, if not all, of the people that the commercial was reaching at the time got a kick out of.
