The main thing I remember the first Aquaman for was how pretty Atlantis looked. I thought they did a great job with that. The rest was just fun but not particularly memorable, IMO.

Oh goody, a kid in danger, my favourite movie trope. It doesn't look terrible, but my expectations are low.

Doesn't this come out the same day as The Iron Claw? I'm definitely going to see that over this movie. I enjoyed the first one, but literally EVERYTHING I've read has said this is a mess. I'll just see this when it comes out digitally.

Early box office forecast is... not looking good, to say the least.
If that number holds, it'll open better than Shazam 2 and Blue Beetle, but worse than The Marvels, The Flash, and Black Adam.

Wouldn't brag about beating Blue Beetle. Blue Beetle's lower on the superhero tier than Aquaman, and thanks to the strikes the cast and crew couldn't promote Blue Beetle. Damn shame that Blue Beetle flopped, because it's easily the best DC movie since The Batman. It just got screwed by the strikes.

That would be the second direct sequel to a billion dollar grossing movie on track to not make it's budget back. Let's see if this gets the same energy as The Marvels. Ah, who am I kidding. We'll just get a bunch of "Amber Turd" jokes and calls to "restore the Snyderverse".

Knew this was going to be badly hurt by the hit on China box office, but didn't know it wad tracking so bad domestically as well.
This year has been like a Mad Libs of box office bombs, outdoing each other in amazing ways.

Update: It's now tracking to open to less than Blue Beetle. I don't think it's really fair to lump Blue Beetle in with the rest. It was released during the strikes, so nobody could promote it. It was also based on a low level hero, which meant promotion would have been huge for it's success. And it's generally regarded as a good superhero movie. Aquaman on the other hand is looking to have people still ask "Really, you canceled Batgirl but released this?".

The forecast hasn't taken into account that there's a not-zero chance that Black Manta f***ing murders Aquababy.
We making an Aquaillion dollars, y'all!

I completely forgot this movie was even happening. I at least saw ads for Blue Beetle and Flash, I have seen nothing of this.

It's deinitely not fair, but it serves as a measuring stick of how far DC's brand has fallen. Aquaman has a massive headstart in being a recognisable character, starring an A-list actor, with no restrictions on advertising, and being a sequel to a movie that made over a billion dollars... and it's set to make less than a Blue Beetle movie that had all those handicaps. WB not even having a red carpet premiere just to save some money is just the final indignity.

I'm surprised they didn't do a proper premiere. They're usually a good way to drum up some last minute publicity and media. It's especially surprising as the main actors have done a fair amount of promo.

I feel like doing a smaller, intimate premiere is their way to try and influence review scores. If the reporters there had a cool experience and got to speak more with Wan and Momoa than they would during an actual premiere, maybe they'd be more inclined to wear rose...er, aquacolored glasses. It probably won't help, but I wouldn't be shocked if that was part of it on top of saving cash.

Boy, that post-credit scene, if true, summarises the DCEU perfectly {Spoiler}It truly is like eating a good burger with a cockroach in it
