So the other day, someone brought up a thread of how Ahmed Johnson was feuding with Faarooq and NOD for 18 months before quietly departing the company. One poster even suggested the feud should've ended at Wrestlemania 13 where Ahmed and L.O.D. came out on top, which sounds about right. After that, he could've gunned for the IC title to get his momentum back since he never lost the belt to anyone. He'd still have to improve his wrestling skills and attitude before giving it another go, but that's another story.
With that said, can you think of any other feuds/angle/storylines that dragged on way longer than what should've been it's logical conclusion? Here are my picks....
Randy Orton/Triple H Throughout The 2000s:It started with Triple H kicking Randy Orton out of Evolution the night after Summerslam 2004, and they were at each other's throats on and off for the rest of the decade. 2009 was especially bad, including their plodding match at Wrestlemania 25. This is partially why I stopped watching around that time and haven't been a full time viewer since.
The Kane/Matt Hardy/Lita/Snitsky/Edge debacle in 2004/5. You can say it was one big angle, so big, it was covered in three inductions on this very board. I won't get into it since typing it will make me dizzy, but it involved Kane pinning for Lita(Matt Hardy's girlfriend at the time), only to win a match where he got to marry her, rape her pregnant, have Snitsky unintentionally kill the fetus by smashing Kane with a chair who fell on Lita, Kane avenge his unborn child, Lita eventually dumping Kane for Edge, Matt Hardy then coming back saying everything was all made up, only to get hammered by Edge at every turn. All in all, there were nonsenscial plotholes galore.
Hogan/Sgt. Slaughter feud in 1991: The Gulf War was over by the time Hogan defeated the American turncoat at Wrestlemania 7. What sense would it make for Slaughter to still show his loyalty to Saddam for another 6 months?
Austin/McMahon after Backlash 1999: Some will say when The Texas Rattlesnake defeated Vince's Corporate Champ The Rock at Wrestlemania XV, it should've ended there, but I didn't have a problem with stretching it out for another month just so Vince/The Rock can take a crack at revenge. From that period(Wrestlemania to Backlash), the feud was fizzling out as McMahon had bigger problems to deal with with The Undertaker's Ministry harassing him and his family, it would've only made sense for the chairman to turn his attention there, which he did at first(or what it looked like).
When Vince revealed himself to be the Higher Power to trick Austin, they resumed their feud once again which lasted all the way to Fully Loaded 99. Not as bad as the other ones, but certainly unnecessary given everything that lead up to the Higher Power reveal.
Any you can think of?
