I do know the promos went on for months. But when she finally debuted, how come it didn't work? This feels like the precursor to the Eva-lution gimmick. How come Emma couldn't make it work?

Cause they dropped it immediately.

Yeah. She's been using a gimmick close to this in Impact for the past year or so. She's one of the best parts of the show. She has a lackey to take her picture. She has a interview show where she forces guests to interview her. Its great.

It didn't work because they didn't even try. Emma had the ball dropped with her in an unbelievable way.

I dunno if this was clickbait or if someone mentioned it, or I'm misremembering but for some reason I recall something coming out that Vince and/or someone in his inner circle didn't find Emma that attractive in the Emmalina character and since that was supposed to be a gimmick centered around beauty they just scrapped it.

It didn't work because they didn't even try. Emma had the ball dropped with her in an unbelievable way. They did a _full_ year of vignettes announcing Emmalina's impending arrival. As time passed and she _didn't_ make her debut for...reasons, the vignettes were less a hype job and more of an annoyance over a character that seemed out of touch with the evolving women's roster. By the time she did make it on TV with the new persona, everyone including Vince was sick of the whole thing. That's why it didn't work.

It was just vignettes (and it wasn't a full year, it was literally 134 days, not even close). The character would have absolutely still fit, both from a personality standpoint as well as Emma's abilities. Then as soon as she walks out, they have her discard it. They. Didn't. Try.

Yeah, they might have gone too long on showing vignettes... but they literally had her debut and scrap it... Like it's to the point you wonder why you have her come out with the gimmick at all instead of just quietly bringing her back...

They pushed this whole Emmalina thing for like, half a year before dumping it in a couple of weeks. They did Emma dirty.
At least she's a lot of fun in Impact as Tenille Dashwood.

WWE's version was just "Hot Chick", and that was all before the character was dropped. WWE releasing Emma right after she had a competitive match with Asuka on PPV was weird too.

It's definitely always been a big mystery. However that can be said for a lot of Emma's run. Along with Emmalina there was also those bizarre matches where she took like 80% of the offense in Asuka's first couple of main roster matches only to get fired the following week. Like what was that about? I know she's done several interview's over the last few years but she's someone who I think would make for a really good full length shoot interview someday with all the gimmicks she's had, the fact that she's worked for pretty much all the major companies, and all the unanswered questions surrounding her WWE run.
What makes it more strange with Emmalina is that as mentioned she more or less has basically been the same gimmick in Impact for the last year. So if it was case where she didn't like it or was half assing it, obviously she doesn't have a problem doing it now. Obviously Impact also must be satisfied her portrayal of the the character if they are still doing it and giving her own talk show. In that case it probably wasn't a case of her not being able to pull if off either as was rumored. I don't watch Impact but from what I've read and from what little I've seen on Youtube it seems pretty funny and entertaining. Although I think they're handling it a lot better then WWE probably ever would've. Like giving her a "personal photographer" who in reality is just a lackey who cheats and helps her win matches in particular is pretty ingenious idea that I don't believe has ever been done before. WWE has had plenty of vain glamour girl heels over the years and not once were they smart enough to come up with something like that.

For a company where one person is decisively and overbearingly at the wheel, it's astounding how much WWE feels like nobody is.

Because her theme was awesome and they didn't want to get of it. I mean until they did.

It amazes me how this company can constantly shit on WCW and yet do the dumb things they did, because Emmalina was their Seven.
