I said it like a week ago, but I don't think Scarlett's playing a big enough role as part of the act. Every now and then she'll say something (usually in Kross' video packages), but she mostly just stands there in the background and holds the title.

What I really wanted to happen was, when he got injured, the Karrion Kross spirit left that body and inhabited, I dunno, Kushida or someone. So then HE has the gothic spookiness and Scarlet and the powers. And meanwhile, the MMA dude is now suddenly on his own and has this dilemma of whether to try to get the evil back so he has more strength, or to try to make a go on his own merits. But again, this would appeal to people who are paying attention to things for more than five seconds at a time, which is clearly not the audience they're going for. It would be like when Kaz Hayashi bought Glacier's ring gear.

I think he has star written all over him, but I agree with what you are saying here. There is definitely a disconnect somewhere. I think theres a lot of guys like that the moment. People talk about Priest and Wardrow (in AEW) like their future world champs. I dont see it at all. Kross and Black to me are can't miss talents, one has been released, the other has threads like this weekly. Theres something about talent these days I feel like their 80% there. But the one thing their missing, i cant seem to put my finger on, is it the with talent or the booking, probably a mix of both. I think Wardlow could turn into a badass babyface after breaking away from MJF/Pinnacle. He obviously needs to keep improving, but I could see it.

Kinda like Del Rio except he is not a complete real life asshole Not gonna lie ,most I remember about him in LU is that he had a pretty bad-ass look.At least he had a clear theme. I am gonna spoiler this incase a certain someone wanders in here. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} THAT right there is using Kross to his complete talents....he was directly character driven he was used to move a story along and when he wrestled which sadly was not alot but that is a whole other bag of worms but when he did it was direct and fed into the character...what he did to Sami Guevara in the finale was so sickeningly beautiful...I have no doubt if THAT was the guy that walked into NXT everyone would be on his f***ing bandwagon right now. I wouldn't buy the dude as a magical/supernatural monster, but I definitely don't buy him as Brock Lesnar At Home, either.

I thought he was perfectly cast IMO...but I guess this is also a case where you can really see the strength in the writing and creative approaches with him in both places.

You know, there's a very good reason Raven and Bray Wyatt didn't wrestle in plain black trunks. He now wears that gladiator thing that looks like he wearing a medieval miniskirt.

The serious actual answer is: You're not supposed to think about it at all. You're supposed to go "whoa cool entrance" and then go "whoa tough strong wrestler guy" and that's it. Remember: the writers assume the entire audience is idiots. TBH he's always had this problem to some extent, even in promotions that gave him more leeway. I get the feeling Kross is a creative guy who wants to do this distinctive dark, twisted character, but in practice once the bell rings it all evaporates and he's just another jacked up guy in black trunks who wrestles like he's straight out of the FCW Clone Factory class of '07.

I didnt really feel him till Joe returned last week. Him being a full heel is a step in the right direction and if you ask me about his character? I say go full on Shao Kahn with it. Give him the war armor, give him a symbolic hammer, just make him Kahn and all the other stuff will fall into place off that alone.
The main roster is one place where I feel if anything they'll get his character down.

I don't get it people talk about how great his character work is and then like I watch all of hte promos he has and he's just a guy... with vague supernatural references... and then I'm told to read his website with like depths and depths of lore and stuff behind it ... but none of htat comes through in any of his on screen stuff.
It especially doesn't seem to matter in his matches.
It doesn't help things like last week that people like Joe completely outclass him on the mic without even trying. (and even before that happened Kross's promo was weak as hell...)
It's great to have lore and all this backstory idea for your character but if none of it translates to the ring it kinda fails as a wrestling gimmick... and if none of it even comes in to play when cutting promos what's the f***ing point?

Throwing fireballs into Keith Lee’s eyes and setting the tron graphics on fire. They leave for awhile and she’s just a hot tarot dominatrix now. Smh

Karrion Kross makes more sense when you just accept he's 'NXT Triple H,' and that also explains why he got the big rocket push. He's got an overproduced entrance, a lady in leather by his side, and occasionally dresses like Shao Khan. This is the closest Trips has gotten to booking himself to the top of NXT.

I mean this WWE's whole creative process and issues in a nutshell. People we know are wholely capable of being so much more creative than they are allowed to be vs a company who wants nothing but the most dumb downed versions because they don't believe the audience is capable or has the attention span of a first grader and anything more is far too complex. If Kross is at fault for anything it might be he is trying to be too ambitious in his characterization.

Y'know one thing I've been thinking about - when he gets to the main roster, he's not even going to have "size" going for him. He absolutely towers over the NXT roster, a lot of whom are basically gnomes, but he didn't look particularly bigger than Shelton Benjamin on Main Event.

Go full Mil Muertes in S2 of LU with it. I actively have disliked Kross for years, but even then I admit that he's a dude you have to go all in on the gimmick to even hope to outshine the mediocre wrestling. LU did this to perfection to the point even I was invested in the character for a time. It's one of the many things I miss about LU, but probably miss the most, they knew how to do vignettes that just sold you on people.

The writers and showrunner have said they had two specific but very simple idealogies I guess when they were doing the show. 1.They wanted to write a wrestling show that they would want to watch. 2. If the audience was going to invest just a small bit of their time each week for their show then they owed to give them the show that was worth their investment. Worked out pretty well I would say.
