Italy having quite the year. Eurovision Song Contest, European Championships and now the menβs 100m Gold medal.
That 100m gold came just a few minutes after they won Gold in the menβs high jump as well. In a strange finish Gianmarco Tamberi shared Gold with Qatarβs Mutaz Essa Barshim

End of Day 9, and China maintain their lead on the medal count (24-14-13), while the United States regain their overall total lead (20-23-16). Japan are third, while Australia go ahead of βRussiaβ having won four gold medals in a single day for the very first time in their history. Great Britain, France, South Korea, Italy and the Netherlands round out the Top 10, as part of a total of 76 medal-winning nations so far.

Good to see that Belarusian athlete is safe in Tokyo and not on her way home.

The USWNT loses to Canada. The first win for Canada over the US in over 20 years.
Canada will play for the gold, and the US for the bronze.

Itβs raining in Tokyo and itβs made the discus competition silly and the pole vault has been postponed for now. I donβt know but I canβt imagine running hurdles is much fun in a downpour.

End of Day 10, and itβs held stations in the medal count. China still lead by most golds (29-17-16), the United States still lead by most total medals (22-25-17), and Japan, Australia and βRussiaβ are still the rest of the Top 5. 80 nations have won medals so far in Tokyo, with Armenia, Kenya, Morocco and Puerto Rico winning their first medals of the Games today.

The USWNT loses to Canada. The first win for Canada over the US in over 20 years. Canada will play for the gold, and the US for the bronze. Best thing to happen for the meatheads here in the States. Ugh! I think the USA needs to turn over the roster...... I love the Rapinoes and the Lloyd's and the other ladies getting up there in age, but when I did watch them play, they looked slow. They need more speed on the flanks, at least in my view. Losing to Canada isn't a "bad" loss.... Canada is a very quality side.

Classless by the Danish cyclist there. He wasnβt looking where he was going and ploughed into the back of the British cyclist. He then started shouting at him when he was down on the floor. The rules in Pursuit are even if you fall away from your other riders, you stay low on the track so the approaching team can overtake you, the clue is in the name, Pursuit. The race had already been won and the Brits were well beaten but why the guy had to react like that when it was his fault is beyond me.
