I have no sympathy for Rockstar, they kept us waiting for information about GTA VI for so long while milking GTA 5 as much as they could.

I do feel sorry for individual employees who no doubt worked hard on the game and are likely having their work judged by an early build that's not reflective of the current progress. There's also a decent chance a lot of work might have to be redone if source code gets leaked and given the industry's already existing problem with crunch, things could get ugly. Far less sympathy for those that at the top given the consistent greed and monetization Rockstar's demonstrated in the last decade.

Feel real bad for the people at work because their work is going to be scrutinized when not even finished and now their basically going to be crunched even more with this game

Is there any chance this could be an engineered leak or a red herring to throw off people who would try to hack, etc?

Is there any chance this could be an engineered leak or a red herring to throw off people who would try to hack, etc? Stuff like this should fall back to Occam's Razor, "the simplest solution is always the best." *Could* it be a planned leak or red herring? Anything is possible. *Is it likely* a planned leak or red herring. Very doubtful.

I don't think Rockstar would risk the legal fallout of false DMCA's for a red herring stunt.

I don't think Rockstar would risk the legal fallout of false DMCA's for a red herring stunt. And it is not like they need the hype The first new GTA game is almost 10 years and the first new GTA in 2 generation consoles sells itself

Gotta be one of the biggest leaks ever, if not the biggest. Up there with Half-Life 2 and the Fallout 4 script.
Someone f***ed up and probably ain’t working in video games ever again.

From what I have heard, an employee got phished and the footage was yoinked from the Rockstar Slack. I'm good friends with someone who works at Bethesda, and the industry(as in the rank and file devs) is pretty much bracing for the fallout from this. This is likely going to have a knock on effect that forces more development to be done back in office, at the very least.

It makes me wonder if someone tried working from their personal computer instead of remoting in to their work station or something. I'd be fascinated to know how this happened.

I do hope people are aware that it's a work in progress and not the final result, because game development be that way. But I'm already impressed with what does exist as it is, in spite of what management has forced out of the staff with constant GTA Online updates and forcing players to buy three generations worth of the same game.

Yeah, my big issue are people are talking about "How ugly or broken it is" like dude it's an early f***ing build what do you expect?
Early builds of Spider-man for PS4 had all the buildings as opaque squares...

Some gamers really are imbeciles.
Like, it's mind-boggling how you could judge a game's looks from a build two years away.
It'd be like complaining your scrambled eggs are bad because they are still up a hen's butt.

Lose their job at the very minimum, then who knows what legal action RS would take.

I didn't bother looking at it as with it being completely unfinished, I didn't want to be "spoiled". I just wonder how much the delay is going to be on this now. Ugh!
