REGISTRATION:
Signups are officially open and will remain until league is full!
If you post in this thread or PM me that you're interested in signing up, I will send an invite to you once signups are open. This will ensure that shortly after registration opens, you'll get a link to sign up for the league. Simply posting in this thread or receiving the invite WILL NOT guarantee your spot in the league. You MUST accept the invite while slots are still open in order to reserve your place. I will continue to send invites until the league is full, not merely stopping when I've sent 14 invites (the # of teams in the league).
Signups are done in this manner to insure everyone is aware of when registration is open, and it doesn't come down to just whoever "sees the post first".
This is a Yahoo! fantasy football league. This means you will need a Yahoo! account in order to participate. Make sure you have an account and are able to access it before the signup and draft day to prevent any hangups. There is a test link on the main league page once you sign up to make sure your browser/settings will work with the in-browser draft program. There is also a free mobile app for drafts as well (on Google Play and Apple stores) if you would rather do it that way or have any difficulties with the in-browser draft. There will not be any special cases made for technical difficulties with the draft application or your internet/data connection unless it's a global Yahoo issue.

NEW THIS YEAR:
Half-point PPR:
Last year we took a pretty deep shift into a PPR league, and while I enjoyed it, I personally felt maybe that shift was a little too severe.
At this point, we are doing a half-PPR league. Catches are worth half a point. This should keep things a little more balanced and not give WRs or pass-catching backs too much priority, while still making receptions matter and giving players reliant on receptions an x-factor to consider when drafting.
How the 18 week schedule will impact the season:
With the NFL launching an 18 week season this year, it'll add an extra week to the regular season for us. We still have the Top 8 going to the playoffs, which will now start in Week 15 instead of Week 14, and the playoffs will be Weeks 15, 16 and the championship week being Week 17. With the projection of Week 18 being when starters will rest up, Week 18 is not part of the schedule whatsoever. While this DOES throw off the dynamic of the past years of "every team plays everyone once and only once", I think it'd be fun to have a random "rematch" for shits and grins (and the 14th regular season game will be just that; nothing based on divisions or W/L records...live and die by the rando). If people would prefer a genuine "Bye" week I GUESS we could consider that, but I feel like it'd be more fun to have an extra game than to just "not play" on a given week.
Injured Reserve:
This has been a popular request for the past few seasons, especially last year due to the uncertainty around the season any given week. So this year, I am now introducing an IR slot on everyone's teams.
With this IR slot, you can set an injured player here and pick up someone else off free agency without dropping the injured player outright. A player can be moved from this position to the bench and back as much as an owner wants (a player isn't "locked" to the Injured Reserve slot for several weeks like in the NFL), assuming the player in question fits the criteria of being placed in the slot.
There are a few rules with this IR designation:
- The player MUST have an injury designation of O (Out), IR (Injured Reserve) or PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) to be placed on IR. D (Doubtful), NA (Not Active), P (Probable), Q (Questionable), and SUSP (Suspended) designations cannot be placed on the IR list.
- Once a player is placed in the IR slot, the team WILL have an extra slot on the bench to pick up a new player. HOWEVER, if a player on IR is upgraded to a status that would make them ineligible for the IR slot, the team MUST make room on the roster for them before they can use the player again.
--------------------------
LEAGUE INFO:
There will be 14 teams in the league, no more, no less. If a spot is forfeit for any reason (more on that in a moment), I will open a spot back up for another player to take over. So please, if you're going to join in, be certain you're in it for the long haul. Few things in the league suck as much as an inactive team.
The draft will be conducted in a snake-style draft. The draft order will be determined by a draft lottery that (assuming the league fills up at the pace it normally does) will take place on July 31st. The order will be reversed in even-numbered rounds. Example: If I got the 5th selection in the lottery, I'd have the 5th choice in the odd numbered rounds, but would have the 9th pick in even-numbered rounds. And yes, this does mean if you have the 1st pick or the 14th pick, you'll often be making two selections in a row, but in return you'll be waiting awhile before the draft comes back around to you.
The rosters will consist of 1 QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, 1 TE, 1 DEF, 1 Kicker, and one Flex position which can be used to play a 3rd RB, a 3rd WR, or 2nd TE on any given week. The flex position CANNOT be used for a QB, defense, or kicker. Defense can score more points than in a normal league, though not so much that defense becomes overvalued.
As mentioned before, the schedule will now consist of a 14 week regular season starting on Week 1; this means that everybody will play every other team one time during the regular season, and then one randomized rematch to compensate for the additional week in the NFL season
The top 8 teams will qualify for the playoffs, which will take place across weeks 15/16/17 (no games will be played Week 18, as many teams will opt to rest players and/or play backups). There will be losers brackets and the like through the playoffs, so even if you lose in week 15, you will still play on to decide your final ranking. Any teams KO'd from the playoffs will have their teams "locked", preventing them from letting players go or obtaining new players (to prevent meddling or collusion).
The only real grounds for being kicked from the league is collusion between two teams or just being an overall jerk (remember when I said "Few things in the league suck as much as an inactive team"? Here are "few things"). If you are suspended from the forums during the league year (and suspension is unrelated to the league) or delete your account, you will be allowed to play out the season, though obviously entering next year might be an issue. if your suspension DOES have to do with the league, action will be taken; most likely, being locked out of your team and future league activity.
And I believe that's about it. If you have any questions or general trash-talk, this thread'll be here all year.
