Kind of off topic..... but I assume Andrade/Chavo are going to bring a couple guys in to fight Death Triangle right.... or is a Penta/Fenix turn the endgame? Have to imagine someone is coming in on Andrade's side at least in the short game. He looks like he wants to reform an American branch of LIJ pretty badly. He namedropped Tranquillo quite a lot... Would be nice if they could get Naito to show up, but I'd guess they'd be more likely to try to work something out with Rush.

It’s pretty wild that Chavo was always kind of just there as one of the Latino wrestlers(when he wasn’t teaming with Eddie), but he’s pretty well outlasted all of them except for Rey. Good for him. Chavo was around when i started watchinf circa 2008 and honestly I always thought he was underrated

Way better fit for him than Vickie is. Agreed. I know he's not the most exciting person in the world for AEW to pick up, but he has legacy and can get heat. Dude just looks like a fit with him as well with that smooth ass look. Yeah, Chavo has always been a dependable heel. He knows how to get people to hate him. Hopefully that will translate to El Idolo.

I've always thought Chavo was kinda lame, an "also-ran", but that's on me for comparing him to Eddie, and honestly there's no comparison, nor is it fair to really.
But this version of Chavo, alongside AEI, is MUUUUUUUUCH better than Vicki.
I'm still not a fan of his, but I'm happy they went this route with it. Dude is a dependable mouthpiece at least.

Long shot, but I could actually see a swerve twist here where it's PAC who turns on the Bros and hooks up with Andrade. He's the most natural fit to go full heel out of Death Triangle right now; Fenix is an obvious face and live crowds aren't going to stop chanting Cero Miedo at Penta anytime soon.

That would be interesting...... I actually like it, because I agree that the fans don't want to be Penta and Fenix.

I had a similar opinion of Chavo - to me, he's always been the sort of dependable wrestler who will do everything well, but nothing notable. He is very good at everything that can be taught, but he has almost nothing of what can't be (star power, that extra something in the ring to really elevate his work). But as the less-cool dude who hangs around Andrade and makes his promos go smoothly? That one segment suggests to me that he is going to be great at it. He's a competent promo, but he isn't in the same stratosphere of charisma as Andrade, so he will never overshadow Andrade. The way they alternated speaking during the promo was brilliant, seeming like Andrade knew he could let Chavo take over if he was stuck on the English, with Chavo able to smoothly take over while still making Andrade look like the guy we should pay attention to. In short, this is a very good use of Chavo Guererro thus far.

Never been a Chavo fan but he’s instantly better than Vickie. Having Andrade come out looking like a million bucks and then having Vickie incoherently scream into a mic while he stands there just didn’t work.

I blame TNA for letting Chavo be a total Eddie nostalgia act, it really made fans dislike him.

Very well put: I loved the moment with Andrade launching into Spanish, then Chavo grabbing the mic and saying "Let me make that clear for you, PAC, since you only speak one language...not a knock on you, just how it is." That was really well delivered: if you want Chavo to be a face there he's genuinely not trying to slam PAC, but if you do want him to be then that's a great subtle dig to try and drive home to Penta and Fenix why they're better off with one of their own countrymen instead of the angry Geordie gremlin. Chavo's definitely carved out a great place for himself in the industry over the past handful of years: being a producer on Lucha Underground, lots of advising in Hollywood on any wrestling-related projects, etc. But yeah, Chavo's a guy who never got to be a mega star, but who knows everything there is to know about about the business and can just do nearly anything you need to get a segment or wrestler over. The aforementioned moment where he transitioned things smoothly once the audience was chanting as Andrade was in the middle of talking was a perfect example of that, the guy's just a pro. And in the end it works well from a kayfabe standpoint: you can still have Vickie being the one who brought Andrade in, but then say that Andrade wanted something else so she contacted her in-law to take on Andrade while she focuses on the women's division, which is a potentially interesting arrangement you can play with in storylines. I also know that I just perpetually appreciate the concept of a wrestler having an "Executive Consultant", given how great Mr. Perfect was in that role for Ric Flair. Now, if only there was a Bobby Heenan figure to be Andrade's "Financial Advisor"... Oh, and lest we forget, Chavo being here means he survived his family's generations-long blood feud with Chico El Luchador! That's no small feat, Chico's a legend!

I blame TNA for letting Chavo be a total Eddie nostalgia act, it really made fans dislike him. LU did a good job of rescuing him from the scrappy heap, his infrequent runs as a sneaky cheat were much better than the second rate Eddie clone act TNA had him doing.

The response was huge. The sheer number of folks AEW has under contract is getting crazy. I'd be very curious to see what their talent payroll is looking like these days. I also never thought Chavo was a good promo but we'll see how he does here. Lots of excitement from AEW lately. He's not amazing but he speaks clearly and in a good rhythm. Good for a mouth piece but not a guy who would do a money promo. I've always said Chavo's biggest problem is that he's not Eddy. There's nothing really bad about him, but he as that outclassed by his uncle.
