I know everyone loves “the forbidden door” and all these companies working together but is it starting to wear thin now that some of these people show up all the time?
Thunder Rosa just signed with aew but… I see her all the time. If I didn’t follow this board, I would have thought she was already there. I forgot that Serena deeb is an aew wrestler since she’s always involved with nwa stuff. All the complaints about the aew women’s division, I forgot that she was actually one of the AEW women.
Same with the varsity blonds.
I have no idea how many of these aew dark and elevation people are jobbers, unsigned indie talents, or on loan from another company
John moxley and Archer are fighting over a title no one saw him with until a few months ago, from a company that technically neither are in on AEW tv.
Kenny is the AAA Mega Champion but we almost never see him with that belt unless he’s fighting AAA guy
It feels like the diluted Brand split where “hey, it’s that guy we just saw here a few weeks ago. He’s not part of this brand, what a shock!” Or “hey it’s that guy who used to work here every week, we just drafted him!”
I kind of see why WWE likes an insulated world (or Universe) for the most part. So many stories branching out or spilling over to and from other companies and confusing brand recognition

I like it since it makes AEW a showcase for the WORLD of Professional Wrestling, acknowledging other Companies makes them seem more "real" and having other titles defended on their program makes AEW Dynamite seem like a big deal since so many Wrestlers/Companies want to appear on the show.
If nothing else it differentiates them from their biggest competitor

I like it. It shows me other wrestling exists and allows me to seek out other promotions or previously mentioned rivalries/matches

I mean...I don't think it really affects anything in that sense if you don't know whose signed or not. If anything, it makes it better because you never quite know whose going to show up.
And I feel like commentary has, for the most part, done a good job of explaining different aspects of characters for an audience unfamiliar with them because, well, that's their job to do. There's no other way for someone who doesn't know about them to know about them as a jumping-on point.
I do feel this goes into this weird casual fan argument I see a lot where something new comes in and people assume those fans are going to go "Man, all this is so confusing" and switch off when, if anything, it's less complicated than your Law and Orders or even your Days of your Lives.

Not in my opinion. This is what's differentiate it from WWE. Them being cooperative with basically the rest of the business (I'm sure it's not EVERYBODY, but it's damn near everybody) is putting WWE in its own island when, creatively, they are in a big fat crater of bad (again... IMO). Of course, they are going nowhere, but their popularity is slowly but surely eroding.

No I love the wrestling extended universe.
AEW, Impact, ROH, NJPW, AAA, NWA, MLW, GCW, all sharing talent and titles. You can see it smaller shows like OVW, SWE, CWFH, and youre favorite bigger local indies as well. It feels like anyone can show up anywhere. I cant wait to see where this goes going forward.
WWE had five brands and really could make things interesting mix them up a bit more instead we get Kross looking like as goober.

The GCW thing is a good example because I could easily see Excalibur going "Over the weekend, Nick Gage got screwed out of the GCW title by Matt Cardona" and Tony going "Oh man, he must be riled up about that" which makes the audience think "Oh no, he's somehow angrier than before" which feeds into the story of the match against Jericho. There's no requirement to watch any Homecoming show because of it but even so, if you're any kind of online wrestling fan, it'd be hard to not have heard of all that.

You effectively let the audience know you can just watch our show to see these guys and gals no need to watch anything else because inevitably other people from those companies will also show up.

And that's pretty genius on AEWs part. Although it has led me to seek out Thunder Rosa and Nick Gage matches elsewhere. Also got me back into Impact somewhat. Again, it's the best decision they could have made.

People coming in and out is great. The bigger names are exciting and the unknowns give everyone a chance to pick out a future star and get invested on them getting their first win or being signed. It all helps keeps things fresh and means there's stakes on the web shows. That said some should get signed earlier, especially the Varsity blondes.
I completely agree with the belts though. The belt collector stuff has mostly been lame on the AEW side, barely even mentioning Omega's appearances elsewhere. Similarly they could have done more to establish Mox as US champion earlier. Really it should be a rule, if you have a belt carry it with you, commentary explains it properly. Ideally show clips too.

So many stories branching out or spilling over to and from other companies and confusing brand recognition Let me put it to you this way, for all of its many problems... I don't think anyone thought that the real killer problem WCW had was the New Japan and AAA talent that would be showcased. I don't think it detracts form AEW's importance by showing that your stars sometimes work in other places. Boxing has had different organizations for decades and seems to be doing just fine. In short, I think AEW is taking the opposite approach of WWE in that the stars come first, the name of the promotion comes second. Makes sense to me, because if you have stars people want to see, then they're going to come watch your show even if it's called "Tony Khan's house of spotmonkeys" or something ridiculous like that.

I guess one thing I'd do is have a logo pop up displaying the company each wrestler works for, just because it'd look cool visually. Excalibur does a good enough job explaining anyway though.

Wrestlers having freedom, making more money, more companies getting exposure, and seeing stars at your local indie show is a good thing. WWE created a fake brand split to fool people into thinking they're not a monopoly, and now actual free enterprise is seen as a weird version of the fake brand split. It shows how much WWE has really warped professional wrestling in the last two decades, into something that's so anti-wrestler and anti-variety. Oh well.
More open, more titles, more wrestlers. This is the most exciting time to be a wrestling fan in 20 years.
