But they could then turn around and charge a premium for those seats to recoup the costs, making them look even "smarter". All this ties down to whether or not they can even get the Tempe arena deal at all. Ive said this before, would any other major sports league let a team fail for as long as the Arizona Coyotes have? Nope. They’re Bettman’s baby. He made sure they left Winnipeg and moved to an area he wanted. He’s gonna keep them there come hell or high water. He only let the Thrashers move because he couldn’t find a single person in the US who wanted to buy them and he grumbled all the way about Winnipeg getting a team.

EDMONTON JUST SIGNED HIM!!!! Well, I hope we beat the crap out of Edmonton next time we play them. History is not on your side: BTW, I went to a game in San Jose many years back in my Oilers jersey and the fans were quite welcoming. Clearly, you weren’t in attendance that night.

They threw up a giant, fat juicy soft ball for Rocky Wirtz and he not only whiffed, he told the softball to go f*** itself.
And now 3 new people are suing the Blackhawks.

Sir, I dont live in San Jose. And the only reason I would want the team to beat the Oilers is you just signed the jerk known as Evander Kane. This is not because I hate the Oilers as I save that hate mostly for rivals like Vegas and LA, and Philadelphia for reasons people know and I will not repeat. I really am surprised you took that as personally as you did.

Beginning of the Canucks game reminded me of this story. Y’all the only people else I know who may find it funny.
So, some of you know Canadian NHL games open with a little speech from First Nations people.
I was at the bar with my wrestling obsessed buddy who is on the spectrum. He sees one of the First Nations chiefs on screen in an Oilers jersey and headdress and asks, excited, “Is that Chief Jay Strongbow!?!”
“No buddy. It is not”

Leafs are apparently in the bidding for Ben Chiarot. I have serious doubts about this happening, though if it does by chance happen, I'm going to be extremely pissed. Paying out the ass for a terrible defenseman who's not even close to being worth what teams are willing to offer for him (1st round pick +) wouldn't make any sense at all. For a team that is supposed to be more driven by analytics, Chiarot completely goes against our philosophy. Why in the world would it make any sense to pay out the ass for an awful, slow as molasses defender who spends more time in his own end than Roman Polak?
The thing with Chiarot is, people are perceiving his value based on intangibles, plus him being a top 4 defenseman on a cup finalist team rather than his actual value on the ice, which is pretty damn terrible when you look at it.

Eichel gets his first goal and win as a Knight against the Sharks who have lost 10 straight to Vegas (last time San Jose won is alllllll the way back in Nov of 2019) but not to worry San Jose you still have 2 more chances this season to try and make the rivalry not so lopsided

Think it’s gonna be a few lean years.

Jukka Jalonen, who had been celebrating his olympic gold with Finland, claimed in the victory celebration that he'd do a better job at coaching in NHL than majority of current head coaches. Would be nice to some day have him (or any other European) get a spot in NHL. Too bad it's all a bit too old boy's club-esque thing.

He won a, let’s call it about a 1500th best in the world and on tournament. He should probably slow his roll.

I couldn't agree with Tim Micallef and Andrew Peters more. Their thoughts on Jack Eichel's post game comments after his return to Buffalo.

Apparently, Tomas Hertl is getting an 8 year extension with San Jose so he might be out of the trade market.

Eh I'll disagree, this isn't the NBA where 1 superstar can turn a crap franchise around. Buffalo is a dumpster fire and he wanted out because the organization didn't approve of how Jack wanted to deal with his injury. So the fans booing him I get it but you should be booing ownership and management. And Jack calling out the fans he's young and he's not gonna always say the right thing during the heat of the moment. But Buffalo does get the last laugh as they beat Vegas. And on Vegas they're really pissing me off with how inconsistent they've been this season

Montreal Canadiens traded Ben Chiarot to the Florida Panthers for Tyler Smilanic, a 2023 1st round pick, and a 2022 4th round pick

They didn't improve as a team while he was there and management should have been booed for how they've been for the last 10 years or so. I think Kevyn Adams will turn things around though, they have a great prospect pool and their young players have a ton of potential. Where it differs in booing management and Eichel is that if they wanted to boo management, they would have booed the team. They could throw jerseys on the ice or wear bags over their heads like in other markets. They could chant fire this coach, this gm, for Pegula to sell the team. They chose Eichel specifically. They could have chanted "We Want Eichel" or something but they booed. The arena was rocking that night and they were estatic that they beat Eichel. If he wasn't on Vegas the atmosphere wouldn't have been like that. They were happy they beat him. Eichel is 25 and been in the league for 7 years. Not a young 18 year old rookie. He's always been terrible and very short with the media. They weren't sad to see him go either. He should have expected at least some boos too, so I don't think it was heat of the moment. He should have been prepared for that. I also know that it's not a well kept secret in the league that he's one of the most hated guys off the ice. None of his teammates stuck up for him regarding the surgery or said they were going to miss him. Also, if you'd like, you can send me a private message as one of my friends played in the league and knows him off the ice. Hates his guts.

Also, if you'd like, you can send me a private message as one of my friends played in the league and knows him off the ice. Hates his guts. Eichel is a prima donna. Having said that, there's two major things at play here. One, the overstep of teams to say what surgery you can or cannot get. That's wild and dystopian, and soured a relationship between Eichel and Buffalo that was probably going to blow up in a few years anyway. Secondly, fans are always gonna boo when you are one of their best players (probably the best) and you leave and they're a bottom team. People don't like rejection. Hell, CM Punk is BELOVED by wrestling fans today. But not everyone was that way when he left WWE or when he was getting his ass kicked in the UFC. All due to silly perceived rejection. The fans don't hate him because he was a jerk to the media. I mean, maybe a very small minority do. But they hate him because he left. That's like 95% of the issue. We've seen it a billion times in sports. If not for Arizona, Buffalo would be by a wide margin the biggest tire fire in hockey. I don't blame anyone for wanting out of there, even before the medical silliness. Pegula needs to sell. Having said all that, Eichel better stay in top shape or he is probably going to age very poorly. As the league catches up to his skill level over the years, he's gonna have to change his attitude and actually play defense. He always got his way in Buffalo before the surgery debacle. Getting the C and O'Reilly friction and getting wingers when he wanted help. Wonder how he will react when he's not getting kowtowed to.

On my age comment I'll change my stance because yeah even though 25 is young like you said he's been in the league since 18 and at this point would definitely know the nuance of how to speak to media post game about touchy subjects. On him not being liked by other players well that I didn't know about but in all honesty that doesn't bother me if teammates hate each other as long as it doesn't effect the on ice production for the team. But I do find it funny that he's apparently so disliked but yeah if he helps Vegas win a cup and his personality doesn't destroy the locker room then no one in Vegas will care if his former/current & fellow league mates think he's an unlikable dick.

Agreed. Plenty of unlikeable people have won the cup. Will be interesting to see if Eichel does win during this contract in Vegas.
