Im glad he's getting the help he needs. Im kinda surprised you don't hear about this kind of thing more; being a goalie is the single most stressful position by far and that goes double when youre the goalie for the Habs.

Ok, puck drop tonight, time to get my pointless predictions in!
Atlantic 1. Florida* 2. Tampa* 3. Toronto* 4. Boston* 5. Ottawa 6. Montreal 7. Detroit 8. Buffalo
Basically, the top four teams feast on the bottom four. Biggest chance of a surprise to me is Ottawa, they've got enough young talent to at least make some noise, but I just can't see the big four in this division being knocked off yet. Biggest chance of a disappointment is probably Boston given some of their subtractions, but they should still be good. Obvious question is if Toronto will actually do more once the calendar hits April, but in their defense this time around I think asking anyone to get past Tampa or Florida will be a brutal thing to demand.
DIVISION PLAYOFF WINNER: Florida
Metro 1. Washington* 2. Carolina* 3. Pittsburgh* 4. New York (I)* 5. New York (R) 6. New Jersey 7. Philadelphia 8. Columbus
A lot of potential chaos in this division. I actually think the Caps and Pens are getting closer to their expiration dates, but I'm not going to predict them falling off until it actually happens, so I'll put them at #1 and #3 until then. Biggest chance of a surprise is New Jersey, and if Mackenzie Blackwood actually got his dumb ass vaccinated before the season I'd have intentionally trolled Rangers fans and put the Devils at #5. Biggest chance of a disappointment is probably the Islanders; they've been on the brink of missing the playoffs the last two years before making ECF runs, so maybe they're just more built for the playoffs than the regular season.
DIVISION PLAYOFF WINNER: Carolina
Central 1. Colorado* 2. Winnipeg* 3. Minnesota* 4. Dallas* 5. St. Louis* 6. Nashville 7. Chicago 8. Arizona
I know there's a lot of people saying Chicago could have a playoff run in them this year but...eh, I don't see it. This is Colorado's division, everyone else is just living in it, yet with the state of the Pacific there's a scary possibility of five teams qualifying out of the Central. I keep waiting for Nashville to really drop off, so screw it, I'll say they drop pretty hard this season. I'll say that Minnesota has the best chance of surprising people in terms of being real competition to the Avalanche, and Winnipeg has the biggest chance to disappoint...it just always feels like something's missing, there.
DIVISION PLAYOFF WINNER: Colorado
Pacific 1. Las Vegas* 2. Edmonton* 3. Vancouver* 4. Los Angeles 5. Calgary 6. Seattle 7. Anaheim 8. San Jose
JESUS. So, alright, it's Vegas and Edmonton, and then eehhhhhh, a lot of names pulled from a hat. I just don't trust Vancouver that much, but I'll take them as the safe bet for the third playoff spot. Still, Los Angeles has the best chance to surprise for the same reason that Ottawa does, and their shitty, shitty division could well bump the Kings' rebuild to competitiveness put into overdrive due a lack of competition. I guess I'll say that Calgary has the biggest chance to disappoint, because that's basically what they specialize in over recent history.
DIVISION PLAYOFF WINNER: Las Vegas
So yeah, by and large I'm going with boring #1 seed picks for playoff winners, but Colorado and Vegas are just too good as the class of their divisions. At least in the East I'm picking Florida vs. Carolina, right? It'll be tough for Florida (or ANYONE) to come out of the Atlantic, and Carolina overcoming experienced playoff teams in the Metro won't be easy, but screw it, I'll roll with it.

I don't follow closely enough to make one of these this year, but I pay attention to my Canucks. Not sure they'll make the playoffs, but they should. They're gonna have to pick up their points against Calgary, because it'll between those two for the final spots with LAK pushing them both. Demko is a big question mark for me. I don't think he's ready yet and Halak is in the Holtby position this year. Demko was meant to be our superstar goalie, but I think he's stagnated. Hope I'm wrong.

I'll take the W but Knights let's get these games ironed out early so yall can cruise through the regular season.
Edit: Also I'll say this to the 10 kraken fans so far, yeah every team gets f***ed by the refs, welcome to the club but also be mad at your own team for not scoring again, you still had about 7 min left after Vegas scored

So I guess this is the annual tradition of the Maple Leafs being built up to win the Cup, and then to fail in either the regular/playoff seasons?

Oh, the Leafs should make the playoffs, and do so pretty easily. It's once there in there that the pure, abject horror begins. Also nice to come home from the movies and see Washington dancing all over the Rangers. FLEX ON 'EM AGAIN, WILSON.

So I guess this is the annual tradition of the Maple Leafs being built up to win the Cup, and then to fail in either the regular/playoff seasons? Every year since 1967 they start planning the Parade route and then the hockey starts. It’s especially bad here in Canada, they report on every tiny banal, stupid piece of Leafs minutiae all year long.

Just as important to the Devils last night, Dougie Hamilton was a friggin' machine and Dawson Mercer looked great in his first NHL game.
Tragically as soon as it was 3-2 I figured that Chicago would tie it with the extra man, as that feels like a constant with the Devils, but starting OT with Hughes and Hamilton on the ice is deadly for any opposition.

Two nights in a row the refs whistle dead a play that costs the Canucks a goal.
The NHL seriously needs to fix it's openly biased officiating. It's not f***ing cute anymore.

The refs aren't biased; they're just really, really incompetent. Well, you could be right, but their incompetence always seems to favour select teams. Though point in your favour, I learned tonight headbutting a guy in the teeth is a 4 minute penalty and 4 guys attacking 1 is offsetting penalties, that was the Oilers/Flames game...
