I really hope They smell the roses and realize they aren’t good. Why did Drury trade Buch? And alienate Kravtsov? And why are Kakko and Lafrenriere playing minimally? Igor is bailing them out. But this is worst 7-3-3 team ever idk about Kratsov or why laf or Kakko aren't playing much, but for Buch he was traded because Dolan wanted toughness I thought the reason NY fans said they traded Buch was they couldn't afford him with the new deals. Fox, Zibanejad, and Kreider all making pretty decent coin and Shesty just got a new deal. Bet they're wishing they didn't sign Trouba right about now.

Like twice on the Blues that I can recall. You got Reaves and Tinordi to fight. Blais hits, but I doubt you trade a 1st line caliber player for a 4th line caliber player just for hits. Despite how egregiously dumb Dolan is, he got Reaves for a 3rd which isn't terribly unreasonable. Seems like they just didn't want to commit money/ice time while developing high picks and paying their core in their prime. It was a dumb move regardless, which worked out for us. But I don't think it was JUST adding players with sandpaper. Lots of Rangers fans were talking about extending Buch and trading Z, which didn't make any sense to me. But it did seem like someone was going to be caught in the squeeze and it ended up being Buchnevich.

Yeah Buch was a salary dump. With too many big contracts and young wingers on the team that need ice time, he unfortunately was a casualty. I think Blais was more of a "he kind of fits the mold we're going for" so they had him included.
Igor is the reason the record is what it is. He has stood on his head. This team is terrible. It is a complete mess. It's almost like they don't have any type of system. I have no idea what the team identity is.
I hated the Trouba deal the second they traded for him. I don't care if he's great off the ice, he is terrible in his own end. In the last five games alone he's had so many blown coverages where he was out of position, it's lead to I don't know how many goals against. He's also supposed to be a mentor to Miller, but his shitty play is putting Miller out of position too because he tries to cover for Trouba, and he's getting roasted because of it.
Kreider is on fire and you can't play Laf over Panarin, but Kreider is so streaky that he will cool off at some point. Laf is getting no power play time and the results are showing in his numbers. Kakko has been, well, good, but he needs the power play time soon too.
Kravstov was cut because apparently he's got a terrible work ethic off the ice and didn't want to train over the summer and just be lazy. He just strikes me as a smug, entitled millenial. If that's the case, then I'm glad they're getting rid of him. He's got massive talent and could be a star but it sounds more like he's his own worst enemy so it's best to cut ties.
I would have been fired with Gorton and Davidson because I believe the rebuild is still far from over. If it isn't over, this is the best we've got? A phony record that might squeek them into the playoffs and they'll get bounced asap.
I still would have moved as many vets as I can. I still think Mika should have been traded and that contract is already biting us and it doesn't kick in until next year. He hasn't played well at all and we have another 8 years of this. This will age worse than the Lundquist and Staal deals.
That's my rant for today haha. I haven't read this over so I might have repeated myself.

What would be your 1C/2C without him? Strome 1C and Chytil 2C? Not that he's worth that contract at all, that's worse than Hayes.

There's no real C prospects in the pipeline either, I was surprised they took Othmann this year. Since 8 years is a lifetime in hockey I think Mika at best will be a 4C in his last years but I can only see a buyout unless the cap is double what it is now in 8 years. I think Strome will be traded at the deadline this year even if they're in a playoff spot. Same reason as Buch with the flat cap. Laf, Kakko, Chytil, and Miller will need to be resigned (although none of them deserve big contracts right now), and Mika's and Fox's extensions kick in. There's just no way the math can work.

Yeah, I had them pegged to take Svechkov and then Lucius fell (though not sure he sticks at C), and they passed on both. Then again, I was also surprised the Blues passed on both for Bolduc. Not sure that ages well for either team.

UrinatingTree put a video out today talking about the Blackhawks scandal and the issues with hockey culture in general. Not going to link it here because of graphic content but it's a jarring f***ing watch.

Might've been the best Devils win in three years tonight; down 3-1 to the Lightning in the third, score four unanswered to win in regulation. *Very* good to see after a few lackluster efforts in the last week.
Metro division remains a bloodbath; looking like Carolina and Washington are the two most legit teams in the division, but after that it's not like there's any crappy teams, with Pitt and the Isles being the early season disappointments but far, far from being buried or anything like that.
Meantime, Nashville, how on Earth are you down 5-0 to Montreal?!

I'm about to try and use Hulu to watch a couple of games today and kind of dreading it given what I've heard about the commentating and the overall feed quality.
Guess we'd better get used to it, though; Sinclair/Bally Sports falling apart really points towards everything being on stream in the near future.

Also, holy shit, why do I feel like every Rangers or Flyers game I watch involves those teams getting completely outplayed but then somehow winning, anyway? Hey, both of you,

For the love of hockey gods, can the NHL somehow go back to NBC? The coverage of Rangers/Bruins today on ABC was dull and abysmal with horrible camera angles and disinterested play by play by Sean Mcdanagh. TNT has been ok though, but NBC treated the game with the upmost respect.
