Well, they kinda threw us a curveball with the Elite winning and seemingly denying Hangman and The Dark Order their respective title shots. With All Out on September 5th, how they get to the title match we all want to see will be interesting.
Thoughts?
(Also, let’s keep things respectful here. No sniping at each other)

I’ll share the sentiments of Marc here and say that if people can’t be respectful and not hyperbolic as hell, we’re locking the thread and giving people time out.
The stuff that happened in the show thread is not something that should be repeated again because some of you really should know better.

After sitting on it, I think I understand the plan going on and am willing to see where it goes. Just how we get to the promised land, however, is anyone’s guess.

It's what I was hoping for watching the match> I don't assume it's swerve (bro) for swerve sake...but a more compelling result than just they win, they win, they win everyone is happy. I think It should make for a more fun ride (I hope)

I've been saying it since they did the promo, they had Uno say "It's not about failing. It's about picking yourself up after." It's following the movie beat sheet now.
Now if they have Hangman lose at All Out yeah I'll look stupid but right now it feels like this is the loss to ensure Hangman doesn't lose at All Out.

"It's not about how you might fail. It's how you get back up."
The seed was planted from the start for this outcome. They're all gonna be fine.
Elite needed to cheat in every conceivable way to win. Down to almost losing to Hangman 3 on 1
It's far from over and while I understand this being deflating for some viewers... I have the utmost confidence we're gonna see a really cool story play out the next five weeks to All Out.

I think it's probably fine, make Page go through each member of the Elite before you get Omega.

I think it's probably fine, make Page go through each member of the Elite before you get Omega. Only thing stopping that from happening is that it’d be too similar to the Labors of Jericho with a heel forcing a face to fight through a gauntlet before getting to him.

It was a downer. No question about that. It deflated me in real time. But I think the only time AEW has botched a larger angle was Team Cody vs Team QT recently. They've earned my benefit of the doubt to see where this is going for All Out.

Let me preface by saying this.
I get why people hated the result. Hell it took me out of the show for a bit and it killed the crowd (probably more than AEW even thought it would), and with how the elite have been booked it can be seen as bad TV.
That being said I felt they choreographed the Elite winning. The whole idea is that Page is afraid of failing and that he cannot beat Kenny. This also gives the Dark Order a chance to redeem themselves as well.
The story isn't over. This will make Hangman's win mean more. Hate the result in moment hell question the booking, but nothing has changed

Like I said in the live thread, I don’t really get where they go from here with five weeks into All Out.
If he’s getting the title shot at the PPV, how does he get it now? They had a hot crowd ready to see the moment happen. It sure seemed like the perfect opportunity. Now they’ll need a whole different way for him to win the title shot back. Unless they have some really spectacular way, I think it won’t be as good as winning the match tonight would have been.
And if he’s not getting the title shot at All Out, then they’ve made him Lex Luger at Summerslam 93. He has all the momentum in the world and the crowd is clearly ready for it. If they attempt to drag it out longer, I think they’re killing that momentum.

I know it's a bit of a cliche but let's wait and see, AEW generally nails the pay off and they've earned the benefit of the doubt.

I’ll say that while I wasn’t happy with the result, I feel that was the point. It’s okay to not like the result and maybe they shouldn’t have put that as the opener. But it doesn’t hurt Page, he wasn’t buried at all.
It was a bummer but it was apart of a story and I still believe it will all work out in the end.
Now the REAL f***up wiukd he if Page gets the title match and then loses. THAT would be anger inducing to me. But I think Page might need that last bit of darkness to finally overcome The Elite.

I still think Page will get the title shot and the win, it kinda reminds me of Kofi's Road to Wrestlemania in how he got screwed over each time before New Day earned him a match vs. Bryan at Mania.
EDIT: I wrote Omega by mistake previously, sorry for the confusion.

I just have a hard time seeing what could be better than Hangman’s friends doing their thing and getting him his shot. Move the match a week if they’re worried about too much time. It just made DO look bad. I’m all for subverting expectations but I think in this story predictable was good. I have faith, but I think they got too cute.

I’m curious if the other big fed being so misery driven makes this result taste a bit more bitter? Curious what y’all cats think but I don’t know how big overlap is between two audiences

Only thing stopping that from happening is that it’d be too similar to the Labors of Jericho with a heel forcing a face to fight through a gauntlet before getting to him. I'm fearful of that; maybe something more organically, not so much Omega laying down a gauntlet, but Page taking down the Elite to the point where Omega has no choice but to face Page.

I’m surprised how many people didn’t expect this. The entire thing with Hangman and the DA is about dealing with loss and frustration in a healthy way, picking yourself back up and fighting again.
With over a month away from the ppv, I fully expected we’d have to see Hangman keep having to deal with setbacks on the way to the gold.

I will say, I feel like the Dark Order were made to look ineffective, which is a problem I've had with their booking for a long time. Losing by rollup, count out, regular pin and literally getting dunked on isn't a great look.
It just seems like no matter their alignment, no matter who they're feuding with, they're there to put everyone else over and never get their own heat.
They regularly lost to the Nightmare Family and the Elite when they were heels, with only Brodie and sometimes Anna Jay getting wins. They've lost more than they've won against the Hardy Family Office. They STILL haven't gotten their win back against The Acclaimed. And now, the only way they win against the Super Elite is if Hangman gets the win.
