A brief summation to save you the trouble: {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}I got salty too so I'm not exempt from this gif lol I'm honestly surprised people got salty ovr it,it wasnt the result I think is the best ,but not enough to make me salty. And i`m a big Dark Order mark. Agreed, for me it's just so narratively like entirely by the books screenwriting 101 plotting it's been pretty clear this was gonna happen for a while, but the reaction was more "AEW just shockingly spat in my face and burned my house down" lol.

Gee I`m glad I didnt follow the thread tonight, not even sure I wanna know what happened A brief summation to save you the trouble: {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}I got salty too so I'm not exempt from this gif lol We had people leave the thread and basically quit the forum by the end of the night over the result of this match I don't think I've seen anything like it even when it comes to WWE. It was bizarre and if the Mods didn't step in some people might've argued the entire show... so I'm glad it didn't keep going. Emotions ran high but tbh looking at it a few hours later and seeing the possibilities? I'm excited to see the road isn't easy for Hangman and Dark Order.

The kind of salty that resulted in a pretty stern warning in the live thread directed at literally (not in the hyperbole sense…in the very literal sense) everyone active in the thread. Not our collective best moment for sure.

Exactly. That's the other big thing to remember. Hangman beating Kenny is going to be a huge moment. You don't want to blow it in a tag match. Kenny needs to look unstoppable here. This is the guy who ended Moxley's unbeaten streak, the guy who was AEW's ace for the better part of a year. You don't have THAT guy take his first major loss in a tag match. When Kenny loses, it has to be HUGE. And the way they're building it so far, I believe it's going to be. If he's THAT good, why does he need so many people to help him cheat to win? And don't just say "Because he's a heel, and they need to do that." Because while he's good, he's not the guy he was in New Japan. He didn't become this unstoppable monster in AEW until he started putting together the Super Elite. Look at the Winter is Coming main event, he was going to lose that match before Callis got involved. He would have lost at Revolution if not for Anderson and Gallows. Nakazawa and The Bucks have gotten him out of countless jams. He's dangerous because he has backup and that backup is guys he's been friends with for years, decades in some cases. It's not just that he has a wrestling stable, he has a wrestling fraternity and that's what makes him so damn dangerous. And that's why I believe Hangman's narrative this year with the Dark Order was designed to be a parallel to Kenny. The guy who needs his friends to help him win vs. the guy who just needs his friends to help him believe he can win. It's not about how good Kenny is, it's about how good Hangman is. And I'm willing to bet that he is better than Kenny at All Out.

And to everyone’s credit, that’s what we’ve gotten in this thread so far.

If Page was going to suffer one more setback before he wins it, this was how you do it. I don't think he could afford a loss at All Out. This protected him very well.

I’ll share the sentiments of Marc here and say that if people can’t be respectful and not hyperbolic as hell, we’re locking the thread and giving people time out. The stuff that happened in the show thread is not something that should be repeated again because some of you really should know better. Gee I`m glad I didnt follow the thread tonight, not even sure I wanna know what happened The short version: the thread basically split into two factions, half believing AEW screwed the pooch and the other half taking the wait and see approach. People on both sides got a bit too passionate in explaining their opinions and discussion of the match had to be prohibited for the remainder of the show.

It was ugly, it reminded me of the TNA section the countless amount of complains that the section became "Lets mock TNA" section due to fans giving up on the product. I will admit that I bothered a bit that Hangman lost but not the point that I was going to give up on the show

Not our collective best moment for sure. I think I said it in one of my posts in that thread. Wrestling fans always seem to be either over the top positive or down right miserable. I got flashbacks to when I was more active on the board years ago. WWE PPV threads always seemed to be a place where everyone hated everything and everyone they liked was being buried, especially when Punk and Bryan were at their peak in the early 2010s. Now the WWE has sucked for decades so it was valid negativity, but it was still difficult sometimes. Now I’ve always felt positively about AEW. AEW generally makes me happy. And the threads usually reflect that. The only other times I can think of when meltdowns happened was the end of Revolution and maaabye Cody’s “yeah America promo”. But that one at least stuck to one loooong and depressing thread. But AEW has been amazing for me 90 percent of the time. No one is ever buried in AEW. Even signed enhancement talent have some respect to them. But when something like this happens, some people are willing to just go over board. And that’s what bums me out. Not everyone has to like everything of course. That’s life. But some people do take to the extreme and actively bring down the show experience.

While I dislike the Dark Order losing too much. I love the poetry of Hangman basically needing to face The OG Elite by himself. And they basically needing all 3 of then to keep him down.
You know,it is a literal manifestation of his relationship with then.

AEW does deserve the benefit of the doubt long term booking wise, but overall this is the first big booking decision they’ve done that deflated me and took me out of the show for a while. And it seemed to do that to the crowd too. I think the placement of a heat angle like this should be reconsidered for the future too. It was such a hot fun open that came crashing down.

AEW is the company that has mostly faces winning the feuds over the heels, or make it too one sided for the faces , idk how can people think Hangman is going to get buried by the end of the Elite storyline? This isnt Vince Russo TNA when the faces always looked like jabronies. And, let’s be honest, Page is the golden boy. He’s working with his friends IRL who are the EVPs. I sincerely doubt they are going bury one of their own. I mean, it’s wrestling and you never know. But Hangman is their boy. This storyline is to ultimately make him the top babyface. Page's quest to be the Ace has been the main plotline for AEW since the first press conference in January of 2019. I don't know if the endgame was always going to be 2021, but there is no better way to finish Page's arc than him winning the title 2 years later in the location of his biggest failure, winning it from his former friend/partner who turned his back on him. They're still clearly on the way there, I think that a lot of the IWC has a (well-earned) cynicism towards the endgame. This was the end of the second act, not the beginning of the third act like so many of us assumed.

My hot take is that the vitriol and venom that this produced is a sign of how great AEW is right now. People really, really care about Hangman and want to see him succeed.
That’s a hard magic to capture in a scripted sport in 2021. If AEW sticks the landing, this will be huge for the company.

That’s where I’m at. I don’t think anything was ruined moving forward for the storyline but the ending was completely deflating and took me and the crowd out of the show. AEW has typically built to moments like this that are predictable and satisfying and then delivered in a big way. This seemed like a departure from their storytelling norm.
