WOW I'm stunned, they've got a ton of momentum Meltzer said this is likely the most momentum AEW ever had. Because while on release they peaked higher, it was "dropping" viewers. This is likely the biggest average of viewers AEW has had in a month

I'm curious what the math is on how many people, or what percentage of the audience, it takes to get a chant going and to keep it sustained. I'm definitely getting the vibe that whatever percentage of the live audience watches Dark and BTE hits that mark, and that demographic may be very likely to know Gage on some level. Perhaps they knew of Gage because of Dark Side of The Ring doing an episode about him, and/or looking up more info about him after his introduction last week. A lot of us Jersey diehards who spoke to Nick or watched Nick since day 1 wanted to watch him get his due (including me)

Being introduced to CZW in the early 2000s - not my cup of tea - I did not immediately think I'd see the day when Nick Gage draws a million plus on national television. This is a strange timeline.

It really makes you think, what would the rating have been if DirectTV didn't have issues? They had increases in the first three quarters, with an big increase in quarter 3. You would have to think the fourth quarter would be 1.1 at the least with any issues.

AEW feels like a hot product.
There's a buzz and momentum building each week.

So it seemed to be that the audience was bummed by what happened at the end of the elimination match, tuned out and slowly rebounded with Nick Gage getting people back into the show.
…I’m not going to get used to typing any of that.

The direct tv thing is legit. I have direct tv and thought it was because it was storming at the time.

The direct tv thing is legit. I have direct tv and thought it was because it was storming at the time. Brandon Thurston also just noted that every demo dropped by roughly the same amount for that quarter which indicates that the Direct TV issue was a large part of it. I am sure there was some drop since it was a long match with big stakes so a drop was inevitable but the tech issues likely explains a lot of it.

Gotta give props to the talent for managing bouncing back the rating after Direct tv screwed up.

People tuned in for Nick Gage main eventing Dynamite and it was a great number to boot.
This is the best timeline.

AEW feels like a hot product. There's a buzz and momentum building each week. This reminds of late 1991, when both Rick Rude and Ricky Steamboat arrived in WCW. It lead to an entertaining 1992!

So against the Olympics and a technical error they still basically gained all their fans back by the end. That's a hot product right there. The average would have potentially been higher then! And Nick Gage drawing that high is huge. For how some were down on that match it did what was expected and more. Which means Domino's got a shit ton of eyes on that ad

Nick Gage drew nearly 1.2 million people. This is a strange, wonderful time.
