I’d also point out there was an episode of BTE…last year I think?…where the Bucks and a number of others were showing sitting at a table at Daily’s signing sheets that I instantly recognized as labels that would go on as the autographs for autographed cards inserts.
So…this has been in the works for a hot minute and I am stoked.
My son is too. He and I collect together so this’ll make a nice side collection to go with the baseball and basketball card collections.

This sounds fun and might have to buy a pack just to have them. Takes me back to when I was a kid getting Pokémon, Yugi Oh or DBZ cards.

Oh no. I have a decent collection of Star Wars trading cards. I don't want to add AEW to my collecting too!

Trading cards are still a thing? I know MTG and Pokemon are pretty big but outside that?

Trading cards are still a thing? I know MTG and Pokemon are pretty big but outside that? They’ve always had their money making corner but all had a resurgence during the pandemic, especially when Post Malone admitted he really liked Magic The Gathering. Oh, and Yu-Gi-Oh had its own Nintendo Direct style thing last week which the idea of that was wild. Also the WWE cards are really popular so hey, if they’re going to do it, AEW might as well.

Trading cards are a niche, but the inking of this deal is still exciting as hell. I don't care, myself, but if AEW is popular enough that they can land a deal to hit a niche like this, it means there's the perception AEW as a brand is value and can occupy a niche within a niche. And that's what you want to see.

I can't wait to have to preorder them from a specialty website because of scalpers immediately buying them off of big box shelves.

Oh yeah, Magic’s had a tonne of games, YGO Duel Links practically carried Konami during the pandemic (Master Duel, depending on certain things, could keep that momentum going), the Pokémon online TCG’s successful. And the new Digimon TCG came out at the start of last year and that’ll be more of an event based thing when events are allowed again.

Topps do several apps that are just collecting the cards. WWE has one, as does Marvel, Star Wars, the Walking Dead, and several sports.

I've been wondering about this for a while now, TNA managed to get a trading card deal two-three years into their existence as well, so I figured it was only a matter of time.
I'm really looking forward to these, I was into collecting rasslin' cards up until a few years after high school and fell off.

Can't wait for the later sets which contain such gems as: "Orange Cassidy poses for trading card photo." and "Orange Cassidy visits relatives in Annapolis Maryland."
