Michael Nakazawa. Twenty five minutes. See, now we’re talking here. It’s not Serpentico but it’ll do. Yeah! ….wait, is Serpentico here supposed to lose?

I want to see Punk VS MJF. The promo wars alone would be incredible. Punk matching Max with every bit of sarcastic douchery of his own would be amazing.

I really don't think it would wise to have CM Punk's first match back in over seven years for free a national television. That's very much a WCW, trying to win one ratings battle type thing. However, you can have CM Punk debut on "Rampage: The First Dance" in Chicago, cut a promo and accept Darby Allin's challenge.
To be honest, "if" does debut at "Rampage: The First Dance"... I wouldn't have him show back up on screen until "All Out" it self, and hold off on his actual debut on "Dynamite" after that PPV because you really don't need to build a Darby Allin vs. CM Punk match with promos, confrontations or other traditional ways you'd be a feud because this isn't really a feud between them two. So, you can easily go into that match cold and people will still want to see it and be excited for based on the fact that it's Punk's first match in over seven years, and Allin has been AEW's most valuable player for a while now.

Yeah no they're gonna have Punk show up at Rampage. First Dance is already at like 13K tickets sold. You give Punk that audience. He drew that audience there. You can build Punk/Darby and sell it for All Out and spike the buyrate.

You put Punk against Darby, you get something out of it more than just projected/assumed immediate money and attention. You further elevate Darby as guy who will be the top-tier AEW star in the (near) future with the most exposure he's ever gotten thanks to attaching him to Punk. It's also a lot less complicated than having to explain how a guy who hasn't wrestled in almost 8 years waltzes into the company to wrestle for the World Title. Punk wrestles Kenny off the bat and where do you go from there story-wise? Either your World Champion beats a guy with "ring rust" or your World Title is now held by a guy who, again, hasn't regularly wrestled in almost 8 years.
IMO that's just too risky to pull with the image AEW has tried to craft for themselves so far. I say start Punk out with future top guys (like Darby and MJF) before moving him onto the super obvious "big money" dream matches like Kenny and Mox a little later. Show how much you value the future by getting some of those future leaders in there with Punk to get a rub of some kind. I'd prefer to keep him as a special attraction like Sting and not even entertain him as a title picture guy for awhile, if ever. If Omega wasn't champion and directionless, I'd be ok with Punk starting off with him.
