To quote Gomer Pyle, SURPRISE SURPRISE SURPRIIIIIIISE.... (sarcasm, in case you can't tell) It's like the TF:TM scene where they set up the Decepticons each arguing why they should be the new leader. Battle happens off screen and the end result is...Starscream won. No. I got it. This is like when Kevin Nash booked himself to end The Streak in WCW. Some more thoughts: (Looks at social media) Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand, some people are taking the Burton "diss" where I thought they might. No it's not THAT, but it's...what's the word? I wanted to say nepotism, but it's not that. And with all the guest hosts it's like, if they were going internal, what was the point? Not quite like having Price tryouts and Drew Carey just walking in because he was popular hosting another show, but.... The "Who?" reactions Richards gets makes me think how casting game shows have changed. As now, you always get someone from Hollywood who was/is well known as a host, instead of picking someone whose main job is to be a presenter. Imagine if in the 50s, they picked some famous actor instead of Bill Cullen for instance. Have we just accepted that game shows now will always be headed by some TV or movie star?

So Mike Richards talked with Mike Richards to be the new Jeopardy host. I'm sure it was a hard sell.

Apparently, Richards wasn't part of the selection process. So while he had an advantage in that the Jeopardy staff knew and worked with him for a year previous, he didn't just say "I'm rooting for me!" and picked himself, either.
I'm surprised Jimmy and Sarah from the Clue Crew didn't fill in as host for a week. Familiar faces for the Jeopardy audience and they're also both involved with the production of the show. Though maybe they weren't interested.

I'd say Richards was legit one of the top 3 guest hosts though. He's a good choice.
Burton was good after his botch filled first day. I think part of the blame goes to that middle player who was one of the worst players I've ever seen, he'd ring in an say nothing over and over.
Aaron Rodgers was surprisingly good.
The newspeople all annoyed me. Thank god Anderson Pooper didn't get the job.

I don't regularly watch Jeopardy, but I watched the Aaron Rodgers episodes and this guy's cause I heard he did a good job. The game is so fast pace that there's really not much room for a big personality I feel, so get somebody that can read and pronounce things competently and move the game along. Really no need to stunt cast, and I think this was the only logical choice.

That's a disappointment. I was hoping for LaVar Burton.

Was hoping for Steve Austin 😞 The word "what" will consume that show faster than kudzu.

How about "Weird Al" Yankovic? He's clearly not in enough stuff these days. Maybe I just wish he would come out with another album.

Also announced is Mayim Bialik doing primetime specials and potentially a spinoff. Well Mike Poochie still gets the main job, but of course they keep the famous person for primetime specials, I suppose for ratings. And the prime time J! would go against shows with "name" hosts (like Press Your Luck w/Elizabeth Banks, for instance). It vaguely reminds me of the days of 70s and 80s syndication, where the "nighttime" versions of shows got a different host. (Bill Cullen on Pyramid, Dennis James on Price, etc.) EDIT: As I feared, there are still people going "there" as far as why Levar wasn't chosen. Look, there were guest hosts from all walks of life who did not get the job either in favor of the guy already on J!'s staff. I hope who hosts a game show is not the hill certain people want to die on. (plus, other J! fans think there were just better guests than Burton. Moot point because EP Richards and all that, though.) And right now is a great time for diverse hosting in the genre...you have Michael Strahan and Wayne Brady, who both took over for broadcasting legends like Dick Clark and Monty Hall and are at the helm of two of my favorite game revivals in general. And one of which I got to be part of this past winter (I was in the virtual audience in Let's Make A Deal...the show aired I think in February). Steve Harvey...well I am not a fan of the content Family Feud now has, but he's made the show a big hit now in syndication. Elizabeth Banks is doing a competent job in Peter Tomarken's shoes too.

I think Joe Buck's doing a pretty good job this week. I was wondering if we'd get "sportscaster Joe Buck" (who is boring as sin) or "interview Joe Buck" (who is pretty damn funny and personable) and fortunately "Jeopardy Host" Joe Buck is more towards the latter.
