I think at this point the easiest way to resolve this is to find the Dragonballs and wish for Shenron to bring back Trebek. Perhaps a CGI Uncanny Valley Trebek? If he's computer animated, he could even have Malcolm as a cohost (let's see who gets that reference!) Maybe for the time being, stick with somehow distributing the classic episodes. Whether it be in syndication like right now (they are doing some Trebek episodes for the time being) or if GSN finally lets Jeopardy! back on the schedule, or dare I suggest, Sony finally strikes deals with Buzzr. Won't happen though, the show is still too popular. Maybe let it rest for a bit then do a revival, giving time for people to forget Richards-gate, #ReleaseTheLevarVersion, etc. etc. Funny, but like I said, it seems like Price is Right was, well, right to do private tryouts for Bob's replacements. We can argue forever about the end result and how the show's been the last nearly 1.5 decades, but yeah.

Let Weird Al do it. He’s intelligent, has the song and I think his past his close to unimpeachable.

People really seemed to want LeVar Burton and he seemed like he wanted to do it. So as long as I'm not mistaken on the latter part...can....can we just do that? We had it, and J! fans agreed that it wasn't that great. That and at this point....well, I hate to say it, but the Burton thing is bordering on being cult-like. Not Snyder Cut bad, yet, mind you. I think it's very reasonable to say he was done dirty. None of the other hosts had to tape all of their episodes in a single day. I also believe everybody else got two weeks worth of episodes while he only got one. Producers also have the ability to edit out dead air and mistakes others most certainly have made. If they actually want to make a host look better, they can. Brutha had to work more than twice as hard, with half the opportunity. It hit close to home for me because I've been there in the entertainment industry.

And to add onto all of the mess with just the actual production of his episodes the airing them during the Olympics, again when he only got one week worth of episodes, is juuuuust a bit of a dick move. Like, yes, someone was going to have their go at it screwed by being placed during the Olympics, the fact it was not only one of the two guest hosts people most looked forward to seeing and it was the one with only a single week? Come on now.

The usual routine is 3 episode day one & 2 episodes day two. So 5 in one isn't unheard of.

In the American TV business, is this like the single biggest f*** up ever relative to how easy it would have been not to f*** up, the fact that there are no outside factors that can be attributed to the f*** up, and the magnitude of it coverage wise?

It's certainly up there, but I still think the Conan/NBC fallout takes that cake. What it is is definitely one of the biggest moves of arrogance on the part of Mr. Richards to think he could fill Alex Trebek's shoes with his own feet. There was already backlash when it was first announced with a ton of "Who? Why is some goober replacing Alex?" Then to find out that Mike approved the position for himself. And then it only got worse from there. At least TPIR did a smart move in hiring a host that was the least likely to receive backlash. A comedian who was famous and also quite popular so more people would be likely to say "Oh he's the next host? Oh, I like him."

It's just the latest one... and I'm don't think it quite reaches the heights of "advertise your movie by placing electronic equipment that people could mistake as exploding devices around metropolitan transportation routes and then refuse to answer questions from the media when the police release you to the public" jack-assery...

Bob Barker or Pat Sajak pulling double duty. Isnt Barker in his 80s? I think you'd need ANOTHER replacement waiting in the wings.

Seriously though, if age wasnt a consideration, I'd go with Dick DeBartolo. He did write for game shows in the 70s/80s, he has a great voice, and his other career, writing for Mad Magazine, is no more since they just publish reprints now.

If this dude would have just stayed exec producer and hired literally anyone else he'd almost certainly still be in that role as the other stuff probably would have remained unknown. Bit of a f*** up on his part. OR if the plan was always him like it's become increasingly obvious it was... just said it from the start. Michael Richards is the new host of Jeopardy while he gets his bearings have some fun Guest Hosts! at the start would have come off better than the mock "interview but not really" that the Guest Host stuff was.

The biggest thing of all this is basically none of the people Alex spoke about replacing him in interviews even got a chance to guest host save for Jennings.

I actually liked Burton over who J! Fans liked (Buzzy Cohen, Richards). He was really hitting his stride during his last three shows. I felt Buzzy was too stale for my tastes
