A slew of WWE NXT releases are underway, PWInsider.com has learned.

Confirmed names:

*Bobby Fish.

*Bronson Reed.

*Jake Atlas.

*Leon Ruff.

*Referee Stephon Smith.

*Mercedes Martinez.

*Giant Zanjeer.

*Ari Sterling.

*Kona Reeves.

*Asher Hale.

*Tyler Rust.

*WWE PC talent Zechariah Smith.

PWInsider.com is told this is the complete list of talents released and no other releases were given this evening.

As Dave Scherer and I discussed on the We Don't Need No Name Show this week, there has been lots of talk internally of major changes for the NXT brand including a new logo, new lighting, a focus on younger talents and a different format to the TV shows. This housecleaning tonight appears to be part of those changes.

The releases can be covered in the release thread, this is more about NXT as we know it going away.

NXT has been needing some changes, but I'm not convinced whatsoever that this is going to be for the better.

I get the feeling they’re just going to make it OVW/FCW 2.0(3.0?) maybe with a little more attention paid to it but not as much as NXT has had the last few years.

Crazy. Few months back when people on here were like “nxt might die, get revamped etc” and I thought it was crazy talk.

Worth noting that PWInsider mentioned in a previous article that all of the cuts are due to the new CFO and Nick Khan not wanting to run in the red even for even the smallest bit of time.

If that happens I feel like what will happen is it'll lose the audience it does have then they'll blame the wrestlers and fire even more of them.

The show is bleeding audience and interest. This absolutely doesn't help matters.

I guarantee when the TV Deal is up this is gonna go off to Peacock.

Like no wonder HHH has sounded so pissed on conference calls lately...

The show is bleeding audience and interest right now because the current top champions (Kross and Gonzalez) are the worst in the brand's history (and while Kross's reign may end soon, Raquel's shows no sign of ending), the actual draws have been either called up (Balor), released (Reed), or on their way out (Cole). Or are being put into absolutely awful comedy angles (Shirai).

And then you have Triple H lashing out at people for questioning the booking of the show, and then these cuts on top of it don't help as well.

Vince don't even use dollar amounts anymore, just "this renovation should cost about 10 NXT contracts or so"
