They're already talking about expanding the playoffs to 14 or even 16 teams in 2026
They're quickly realizing two conferences are going to dominate this shit and Underdogs are still going to be left out
This could become March Madness very quickly lol

At what point do you just start the "Tournament" in Week 1, and just have any/all undefeated teams duke it out at the end?
Have the NCAA set the schedules to try and avoid the obvious squash matches against junior college teams, if no one is undefeated after the Conference Championships, then last four or eight teams to lose have a traditional playoff.

It'll never get to that point, but if you told me it could expand to a 20 team format, I'd believe you It was always gonna expand with how the SEC and Big 10 are eating so many teams up

Oh, I agree it'll never get to that point, but that idea could make some rivalry games even that much spicier.
Realistically, it'll probably go to a 16-team format before long, or do a play-in with 4/8 teams to get to 20/24 on technicality.
Unless it realigns to four Super Conferences, then it's probably 8 or 16.

FCS has 24 teams (I think?).... why can't FBS? Get rid of the bowls (I know, I know.... "Money") and the conference championship games. Move back to 11 or even 10 games for the season. EVERY conference champion is an AQ... if there is a 6-5 team or two in the playoff, who cares?

You can also keep the Bowls in theory, just have the playoff games sponsored like they would be any bowl. There would be enough for that to make them even a bit special in their own rights, and then the other bowls become more like an NIT/Consolation as more teams could be accepted I do think inevitably they're gonna have to make it a near or over 20 team playoff. Too many teams are gonna be left out that could make waves or a fun run in something like this. The more that are in, the more money is made, basically.

It was always so stupid they took it away. Same with vacated wins. We all know who won the games

It was always so stupid they took it away. Same with vacated wins. We all know who won the games Rece Davis win talking about Texas vs USC "Vacating games is stupid. It only irritates fans, and confuses statisticians. And we all saw the game, and it's one of the great memories. And no rule or vacating can change that memory."
