What chance do either of the Tekkers have? NJPW have been really big on them both. Especially Taichi who is my favorite for most improved.

Impressive showing sure but very little chance of winning it ZSJ is a former cup winner and Taichi has had some good showings including the impressive one last year with Ibushi in their kicking contest. Each man has been good for at least 8 points In terms of upsets and predictions, I can see Taichi getting off to a hot start and his biggest win will be against Tanahashi. ZSJ might have a chance of tapping out Shingo but if KENTA isn't the winner of the G1, I can see him beating Shingo and getting the next title shot

With WK being 3 nights, they def lining up for something big
I think we get Ospreay vs whoever is IWGP champion to determine the "real champion". You get whoever won the G1 vs the champion. And I assume the other main event has to be some other big time match. Maybe Kenny comes in and has a match but I would think there has to be some type of AEW/Impact involvement because to me 3 days seems a bit overkill unless you are counting New Years Dash as an event

I think Naito's going to be in contention in the final day, only for O-Khan to claim him as his big scalp of the tournament.
For B-Block, Sanada vs EVIL being saved for the final day definitely means at least 1 of them will be in contention.

Okada versus YOSHI-HASHI is unironically one of the matches I’m most hyped for in the G1.

Okada versus YOSHI-HASHI is unironically one of the matches I’m most hyped for in the G1. Yeah, I am curious about it. NJPW tends to do well on matches between dear friends/longtime companions. Man, YOSHI-HASHI has had a wild last couple of years. He went from a laughing stock who was openly made fun of in NJPW only marginally less than Captain New Japan to someone who has helped turn the NEVER 6-Man titles into something more than a footnote and who actually has some credibility. He's still probably the bottom of the CHAOS totem pole outside of maybe Rocky, but he's at least not someone that Goto and Ishii ought to be embarrassed to associated with anymore. I don't think he's going to beat Okada. He might, but I kind of figure he loses after a decent showing. Going to guess, based on nothing, he gets 3 wins, as a reward for elevating his stock. Predicting he beats Chase, Tama, and Goto in a surprise, since, f*** it.

Ospreay will be on Jericho's cruise, in a non wrestling role I mean, he's just got Covid, so he doens't have to worry about that at least... Okada versus YOSHI-HASHI is unironically one of the matches I’m most hyped for in the G1. Same here. I think that and Ishii/ZSJ are my two low-key G1 matchups I can't wait for.

Looking at the tournament layout makes me think Cobb is coming out of B block as I think he'll be 5-0 going to the back half of his slate of SANADA, Tanahashi, EVIL, and closing with Okada. Split those matches 2-2 and he finishes on 14, normally a number good enough to get through

I’m thinking Okada vs. KENTA for the final two.

I’m thinking Okada vs. KENTA for the final two. Like I said it seemed 0 to no chance that a KENTA/Shingo match would main event WK but their is a slight chance now with the way Gedo has been opening up a little bit that it could happen Plus with it being 3 days and how hot Shingo has been and how hot KENTA was, it makes sense Tho I still wouldn't rule out the usual suspects back in the main event. Gedo is trying to find ways to bring in new main events since a lot of the "legacy" matches are done. Ibushi overcame Naito. Naito finally beat Okada. Okada has beaten Tanahashi and defended the title multiple times at WK New stories need to be made. Tho you still got a Jay White vs Okada main event in the air that I thought would happen for WK 2022. Naito vs Hiromu is something that was built up before the pandemic that could be really fun

KENTA would be a weird choice to win.

I never said KENTA would win the G1, just the A block. I have Okada winning the whole thing.

Moxley vs Suzuki was good, but had timing issues as they were in fast forward mode

Split those matches 2-2 and he finishes on 14, normally a number good enough to get through I think his schedule is perfect for a choke job, as we’ve seen in the past with KENTA and Mox. Make a guy look unstoppable halfway through, then have him lose-out. He could have that 5-0 streak and finish 5-4, though 10 points would be his best showing to date.
