imho the greatest IC champ of all time. Really wish he got a 3rd run with the belt in 1993 (supposedly his back began to fail him once again) but I would've given him the belt at Summerslam 1993 if he were healthy As someone who watched SSlam 93, I wanted Perfect to win and continue the streak of that belt changing hands at Summerslam as well as him becoming the first 3 time IC champ. Twenty eight years later, There have been more SSlam events with the belt NOT changing hands then there has been with the belt changing hands.

At the very least I was expecting a high quality match but it seriously underwhelmed. Perfect was hurt and Michaels looked out of shape for some reason. Michaels was a very good IC Champ but Hennig was my all time favorite wrestler

I know that classic matches are in the beholders eyes but that match was a let down. Shows that you can’t bank on or predict a classic. Classics like Steambiat/Savage were classics when no one expected them to be.

I know that classic matches are in the beholders eyes but that match was a let down. Shows that you can’t bank on or predict a classic. Classics like Steambiat/Savage were classics when no one expected them to be. I remember after Bret beat Flair for the World Title surprisingly...seeing them recap the match on Superstars they mentioned it was an "all time great" or something like that. I was at the time a bit befuddled why there was a WORLD title change at a house show...and stunned that it was Bret who I loved as a wrestler, but I never ever saw him as a guy they'd put the winged eagle on. The WWE also does this with their choreographed and very much forced "WrestleMania Moments". And every year there are a bunch of moments that they talk up which in reality just get forgotten the next week despite being played up as legendary. The true WrestleMania moments are the one's we don't have to be told are significant and the ones we remember. More recently Brock beating UT...but other stuff like Warrior pinning Hogan, Hogan/Rock, Hogan Slamming Andre, Savage winning the strap in 88, Michaels with the I'm sorry superkick...
