Love Jay but Swerve should be getting that shot at Full Gear. He's been around longer, he's proven more in an AEW ring, he's the hotter of the two as it stands.

What angers me is that unless this Hangman vs Swerve feud isn’t over, there’s no real reason for Swerve to be going for the TNT Title and especially not right now. The title is locked up in the Cage vs Copeland feud, and Swerve being inserted into a TNT Title match during this time wouldn’t do him favors win or lose. Either he gets the belt because of Copeland’s presence or he loses and rolls out of the ring so they can focus on Cage and Copeland. And no knock to them, but right now both options would just hurt instead of help.
It’s the same thing I said a few pages ago. On paper it looks good and like they’re trying to help. In practice, it’s terrible because the title’s honestly wrapped up for at least three months.
Also, yeah, Ricky got the tag titles on Saturday, and good on him. But when the main talking point is “what’s going on with FTR” rather than the champs, that’s not the best way to kick off a title reign.

Seen people everywhere just happy or thrilled that Ricky and Bill became the champs Obviously people wondered if FTR were legit hurt, and Cash at least seems to be, but I don't think it's taken away from them at all.

I'm assuming it's not over between those 2 based on that video they showed with hangman expressing frustration the week after the PPV makes me think they're coming back to that. How Hangman would factor into the TNT title match I have no real idea

The tag titles have also never had a problem with diversity. Several people of color have been tag champs.
Besides I think the main talking point of the fallout of that match is more "I can't believe Bill and Ricky outright squashed FTR." I do hope they get a good reign out of it instead of being literal transition champs to the Bucks.

Swerve's story arc is going in an interesting direction, and Hobbs put the hurting on Jericho! I'm actually happy so far.

I imagine Swerve stepped up to TK and demanded it. It's a declaration. That midcard title wasn't it no matter how people tried to prop that shit up.

I think Swerve’s absolutely taking it at this point. The continuation of the hangman feud is to keep elevating him character-wise. It really can’t be anyone else at this point.
You look at mjfs original list -
Check, check, Warhoe might be the one who costs it for him, eddie ain’t happening, hangman prob aint happening, check, check, check, lol no
Could be Omega. Could be Cole (though a betrayal for the sakes of it would prbly be better) but White & Swerve have been here as heels waiting to usurp. With White happening at Full Gear and VERY obviously not going to defeat Max, I think Swerve’s time is just about near.
Just finish the hangman thing to have him absolutely ready for it.

Talking about it out loud like this is really clever, IMO. Part of what made the AEW World Title so prestigious is that the first four changes were all well-planned in advance and each champion was undeniable as a champ. After Punk got it the changes weren't quite as well planned (for various reasons) but getting Swerve into the same position Omega or Hangman were, where winning the title is an inevitability and expected by everyone, makes the run more important out of the gate. Of course, AEW needs to do it and stick the landing, but it sets the scene.

I'm ready for Swerve to have a steady elevation up. He already has that aura of a being a REALLY big deal. I think he's fantastic.

Swerve doing this puts the idea in people's minds, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was already being planned. Dude already has a champion's aura to him.

If they had gone with Swerve for Full Gear we certainly wouldn't have had THAT promo on Dynamite because he knows how to get heel heat.

If AEW is indeed having a 12/30 PPV event, that's as good a timeframe as ever to have Swerve challenge for the strap. Then you can split off MJF possibly feuding with Wardlow and Swerve can have a whole roster's worth of face challengers for his championship.

At this point, especially after his comments at the scrum, it’s less of “the first black AEW world champ could be Swerve” and more of “the first black AEW world champ needs to be Swerve.”
