I really like the win loss records most of the time (though some do get a bit silly with dark wins) but I don't really pay any attention to the rankings anymore. Yeah, same. I literally just ignore it. So it’s kind of moot. I can see them moving away from it in the future.

I think they follow the rankings still mostly. The problem is they don't mention it enough. I'd have them do breakdowns on Dark or Elevation and maybe a graphic after a match if someone has risen up/dropped down the rankings.

Then, with enough iteration and audience conditioning, you can tell stories with the rankings. Maybe two people are neck and neck and keep swapping positions, leading to them facing off to cement their position.
