Yeah, I just did a thing with Ann that acknowledged the relationship (and others also acknowledged it), but there wasn’t any other party members involved. What event was that? The end of the school fair. I don’t know who normally might invite you to go (the text suggested that normally you might get more than the two I got), but I felt obligated to turn down Haru since I had not done much with my erstwhile girlfriend. I know it’s just a game, but I prefer to play as I would live in that scenario (which is why I sort of hated not romancing the doctor.

I think outside of variable events like the school festival, the holidays, and the Hawaii trip the only time the game acknowledges you're in a relationship with someone is there's a lategame scene where someone asks Joker if he wants to get married someday and if you're dating any of the party members they'll react to it.
As for confidants I'd say probably the most useful ones are Hifumi, Mishima, Chihaya, Tae, and Kawakami, and Shinya also has some good situational use. Maybe to an extent Toranosuke but his later tier upgrade can actually bite you in the vanilla game since it blocks you from demanding money from enemies multiple times, but they changed that in Royal so he's pretty heavily buffed in it.

Haru will always text you at the school festival regardless of being romanced or not. Otherwise, the only other texts you’ll get there are from the other female Phantom Thieves or Kawakami as long as they’re romanced.

Chihaya and Kawakami definitely offer the best confidant perks. Max them out as soon as possible.

I have a question is it worth grinding up to get the last two or three persona's in a place? Even when I have done everything in it, I always seem to be a few levels lower then I need to be to be able to recruit one or two of them, and just wondered if I should spend time respawning enemies and grinding to get them
And what do you do with the treasure personas? You know the one that sticking out of a giant jewel? I have one and I really don't know what they are for

Oh damn. I had ignored Chihaya for a good length of time (that 100,000 yen price tag having something to do with it), Mishima always wanting to meet in the evenings means that frequent trips to the Metaverse has prevented his track from being maxed so far, and I haven’t even met Hifumi despite trying multiple times (I’m guessing I’m not going on the right day of the week or I’m going to the wrong place). I have maxed Tae and Kawakami though, because those benefits I kept getting were so, so useful.

As for grinding, not really something I ever saw much reason to do and pretty much everything can either be fused for or found in Mementos anyway. Though if you are interested in hardcore grinding in vanilla (they fixed this in Royal) the best way to do it is to come November when it hits Flu Season run around Memntos until you find the Reaper and wait until he spawns in with Despair. If you do that he'll just drop dead in three turns without doing anything and you'll get a ton of experience.

Normally I like to grind in JRPGs but really have not done so in this game. That made the spaceport a bit of a slog (I had to use one of my precious Goho-M’s at one point, which irritated me since I can’t make those myself (I’m hoping I can with a level 5 proficiency). That’s why I decided to try doing so in Momentos only for Ryuji’s insta-kill ability to screw me over.

They buffed the hell out of it in Royal.

She gives you the money back towards the end of her confidant link. I still had to raise those funds and not spend it on tanking up my party. Money’s easy enough to come buy if you keep confusing the shadows in Mementos to drop more and more money. You can make thousands in minutes. Chihaya‘s ability is really worth it.

I pretty much never find myself not at max money in the lategame, especially in Royal, because I have a tendency to relentlessly torment every random enemy I find into giving me more and more money for as long as I can while never actually sparing them.

So, trying avoid spoilers (I’m currently waiting for a certain someone’s dad to lose his mind, or at least that’s what I’m expecting to happen), but what am I missing out on by playing the PS4 port of the original instead of Royal? Everything that's in the original is in Royal, so if you want to experience the original ending, avoid the previously-mentioned confidants that trigger the third semester. Other than that, there's only two reasons to play the original. One's the difficulty. The original, especially without Royal's QoL improvements, is brutal even for an Atlus game. Guns are useless, you need a rare item to refill them. SP conservation sucks. I was getting slaughtered in the first dungeon on normal difficulty, then in the second dungeon on easy. The other's the original versions of several bosses, as Royal changed up a good chunk of them.

Having said that, when my kids were uploading it from the PlayStation Store they also uploaded some free DLC, which included the gun replenishing items (though even that’s a drag so I don’t often use them anyways, but that may change now that I can mod them in the air soft shop). I also got the tubes that reduce SP costs, but why use those now that I can buy the SP replenishing accessories?

I like how the eShop screenshots for Royal were clearly carefully chosen to show off a variety of content with minimal spoilers... and a major one snuck through anyway on the bottom corner of the last one showing off a DLC Persona and thus they very easily could've avoided it.

You know the one that sticking out of a giant jewel? I have one and I really don't know what they are for You can get every persona that you can recruit from palaces from either Mementos or fusion. In fact, you're usually better off getting them via fusion as they tend to have better stats and access to more abilities. The only personas you can't get from fusion are Treasure Demons. And those are also in Mementos. Treasure Demons make either wonderful raw materials for Fusion with the amount of new abilities they give access too or transforming them via the electric chair to items (especially during Alarm sessions). There's fusion charts online that can help you get the most efficient paths to a specific Persona, though make sure you're using a chart that matches the right version (Vanilla and Royal have some different combination results. DLC personas can also have an effect on fusion results). And save frequently if you're going to be doing a lot of fusing in a single session. Don't want all that work undone by a Fusion Accident.
And don't forget the Persona Compendium, especially if you're swimming in money. And update it whenever you can with new registrations that are better than what was already in there. And level up the Twin Wardens/Strength Confidant (which you can raise via showing off a persona with specific abilities, which you can get either through specific fusion combinations or skill cards). They not only reduce the cost of summoning from the Compendium, but will allow you to fuse Personas past Joker's level (though you'll need to pay some yen if they're above his level; still it's better than not being able to do it at all).

Oh that's a big OOF. Fortunately it is lost in context to anyone who doesn't know about the spoiler, so yay?

Yeah, spoilers can stink. I’ve advanced to the next palace so I know my prediction for Haru’s dad was sort of wrong, though not surprising. I now have two separate predictions moving forward, though the one related to the politician was fairly obvious for some time. The other expectation is one that had I not predicted it myself would have annoyed me to have spoiled.
