I’m on my second playthrough and only now did I discover two more things:
1) I discovered a confidant I completely missed the first time through. 2) The twins are optional bosses.

The twins can’t be fought in the first playthrough. 1) The politician who gives speeches in the square. I’m forgetting his name. So much yen being generated now… 2) I was unaware. I thought I found a 3rd thing that I missed the 1st time around (including missing Makoto following you around Nancy Drew-style).

And yeah, he's one of the more obscure confidants because the only way to really get a chance to talk to him is at night and you gotta work at the beef bowl place in Center Street a couple of times after you talk to him.

Little FYI, the actor who voices Yoshida also voices Mordin in Mass Effect 3 and Doctor Octopus in the PS4 Spider-Man.

if this is going to be an all encompassing SMT thread, returned to smt v
about 40 hours in or so, it's a real shame about the story. the story is never the appeal to mainline games but i really feel like they should've/could've done a lot more with how long it took to make
gameplay is about as good as it gets though and carries it hard along with the music

Finally they have indeed announced a new Persona game! ... It's a card game.

So I got Royal today and played about five hours on it Well, allow me to give you a heads up on things to do. Trust me, some of these will become painfully obvious early on but some will irritate you when you piece it together 2/3 through the game: 1) This game is all about managing time. The game will constantly remind you to take your time and that is because you never have enough of it. 2) When in palaces and Momentos, conserve SP when possible. This allows you to go deeper on your palace stays. Get to the treasure in one go, if possible. Save trips to Momentos for when you have several requests at the same time. The reason why goes back to point 1, the management of time. Going into the Metaverse drains you and steals time in the evenings away from you. Needing to go in less frequently saves some of that lost time. 3) Save often. 4) Sneak attack every time it is possible. 5) Every time you have a choice of where to go (after school or on your days off), check your subway transit map. It will not only tell you when a current confidant is available near a subway stop (the blue tarot card icon), you can press a button (the square on a PlayStation controller) and learn what confidants, current or potential, are currently available. It will also tell you which confidants, if any, are ready to up your relationship status at that moment. 6) Some confidants are more useful than others, but most are still quite useful. I’m trying to avoid spoilers but can make relatively spoiler-free recommendations if you like. 7) Early in the game getting items is key. Sure, you need yen to buy equipment but there are ways to get it. Items allow you to replenish hp and sp, allowing you to go deeper into palaces. 8) Even if they don’t know it, every confidant has a persona. Equipping a persona of the same type boosts relationship building with that confidant. Want to build your relationship with Ann, the blonde girl in your classroom? Equip a lover persona when you interact with her. 9) Yes, you can romance every female confidant, regardless of whether it is appropriate or not. There are some benefits for doing so, though if you romance more than one (or all of them) these benefits do not stack. You do get some amusing storyline stuff if you are a tramp though. Don’t worry, while it can get ridiculous to believe otherwise, only one of them will know for sure if you are cheating.

Very key thing early in the game - be sure to hit the vending machines by the laundromat and at the school's outside tables at least once a week. It eventually becomes unnecessary but early in those (and the Will Seeds in Royal) are your only means to heal SP.

There’s also vending machines outside the school gates, near the skywalks to the school’s practice building, in the subway buildings, and you can buy things in the shops on central street. The burger joint sells healing food, and there’s a drug store and convenience store. There’s also the grocery store in your neighborhood. It has some special seasonal items. You can also shop at the little school store by the front entrance and in a few stands in the various subway buildings. Most of those have special items sold on special days.

You know, 3 playthroughs and on my forth and I always forget to equip different personas for number 8.

I also would recommend doing everything you possibly can to get SP Adhesives as soon as possible, even just having one makes the whole game substantially easier. If you have the patience for it you can relatively easily grind for the money around the second palace, especially after you start the Sun confidant, and it's a massive boost because SP is your most valuable asset, especially in the early game.

The seasonal items from shops can also be really handy with both SP restoration and handling status ailments when resistance/nullifications on personas and accessories aren't as common. They're not quite as life or death as in other MegaTen games, but they definitely matter a lot more in terms of both using them and protecting against them than most RPG's. Dealing with some shadows that don't have any elemental weaknesses (or several strengths/nulls/absorbs/reflects) but can get tech'ed with the right status ailment is a godsend. And they take priority over strengths, too. So you can score a tech by using, say, Psi on a shadow with the Forgetful status ailment even if they're normally resistant to it.

Yeah, the SP adhesives are fantastic.

Personally, I never found the need for the adhesives after the first playthrough. I always had more than enough SP.

Yeah, after the first your stats are high enough that you really don't even need to worry about SP anymore. And even if you do, after you beat the first bonus boss and get the Victory Cup that problem is completely gone because you can just pass it around between fights to give everyone Victory Cry.
