Is Katherine worth playing? Do you mean Catherine? It’s pretty fun and the multiple different endings lends to it replay value. Make sure to get the updated Full Body version though if possible. It adds a new love interest, new story elements, new endings and several other new features. Multiple endings don't necessarily lend itself to replay value. Beyond Two Souls had multiple endings and the only way I would consider replaying it is if I played with a partner as opposed to a solo run. Considering the only family member of mine inclined to do so is moving across the country next month, I'd say the odds are low. Detroit: Become Human did the variety of gameplay better. Sure, everyone's preferred ending is for Connor to become deviant, Hank and Connor's friendship elevate all the way to father/son dynamic, Markus lead a peaceful revolution, all of the named characters survive (thought that sadly would include Gavin and Perkins - though at least Zlatko is likely to die in most playthroughs), and for Kara to escape to Canada with Luthor, Alice, and even one of the Jerry's, but other playthroughs are at least fun. Well, except Markus dying/getting kicked out of Jericho and refuse to return to help. That story is all the suck. I do wish Nathalie was still included as a fourth protagonist, but I could only imagine how complex the script would have been had they kept her in. Who else played Kara, the maid-bot, as the most deadly of the three protagonists? Sure, Connor has the opportunity to kill scores of androids and humans, but most of those deaths are easily avoidable (though not all), and Markus can kill up to hundreds of thousands humans off screen (or kill absolutely none), but there's something about having the tiny woman be the ruthless killer. |

I don’t think I’ve ever played a game with multiple endings where I didn’t play the game until I got all or at least most of the endings. My playthrough for Detroit: Become Human went a little different from most. Kara and her whole group made it to Canada in one piece, but I had Connor stay loyal to CyberLife, Markus got assassinated by Connor after peacefully winning the trust of humans, Hank made peace over his son’s death but didn’t form a lasting bond with Connor due to Connor staying loyal to Cyberlife and Connor was told he’d be replaced by a new model after he finished his job. I also refused the main menu screen Chloe’s freedom when she asked for it after the game ended. |

What does Scumbag David Cage and his shitty games have to do with Persona? Dr. T brought it up, ask him. I previously asked about whether or not I should pick up Catherine (also produced by Atlus). I got positive feedback and one of the reasons given was multiple endings. I pointed out multiple endings aren’t always a compelling reason to replay, citing Beyond: Two Souls as a game with multiple endings that I have no interest replaying. Since I was already talking David Cage games, I made reference to the one Cage game I liked enough to both finish and replay a time or two, DBH. Yes, Cage is rather problematic. Most game developers have problems considering the way they all do business, but he is noticeably worse than most. That doesn’t alter how I enjoyed the games before I learned about him. It will make deciding whether or not to play their planned Star Wars game harder. |
