I just found this out now. ...that Rellik is Killer spelled backwards? I'm a little slow on the uptake. Imagine my surprise when I watched the shining the other day. That mirror scene blew my mind.

John Tenta as Golga. Partly because of the mask and partly because it baffled me why he would be wasted on something like that.

I was young, but I had no idea that the Blue Blazer and Owen Hart were the same guy until they started doing the Blue Blazer stuff in 1998-99.

I was a grown man when I finally realized that Sensational Sherri and Peggy Sue were the same person.
I also didn’t realize that Terri Runnels was Alexandria York in WCW until much later.

The weird thing about the Steiner change, is was that it was more gradual than people realized. Scott was getting extremely jacked starting around '96. He had even cut the mullet and grown the goatee while being managed by Ted DiBiase. Still...you put a 1990 pic of Scott next to the 2000 Scott ... Yes, the match at Superbrawl where he turned on Rick, he was massive. Scott said in an interview he was actually heavier and bigger around 97-early 98, but he cleaned up his diet (and no doubt upped his gear) and lowered his body fat. However, still a massive transformation. Not unlike Sting's, combining both a change in look and personality. They were both more gradual then people remember. Sting had grown his hair longer and let it go it’s natural colour earlier in the year, or even late 95 I don’t remember, and his first time with the black and white he still had the same Surfer style paint just in black and white. He didn’t go full Crow look until close to Christmas I think, he was definitely in the middle of the two looks for a little bit when he first donned the trench coat Same with Steiner, his look evolved over 1-2 years in WCW. If you were a regular viewer, neither was that jarring but if you were a lapsed fan I could see the confusion.

Found this picture of the Evolution of Scott, but agreed you can see how it was subtle

Interesting thing about Sting is, I had no trouble distinguishing the crow from his surfer self. Maybe it's because it was THE major storyline of WCW at the time (him vs. the nWo) where Scott Steiner's evolution was in the midcard. I grew up mainly on WWF. I only watched WCW very seldomly, like watching the first hour of Nitro and then switch to RAW, which came on afterwards, while occasionally switching to Nitro during RAWs commercial break. So I when finally got around to Big Poppa Pump, I was naturally caught off guard since I previously knew him as "that tag team guy."

I don't think I initially recognized Marlena as Alexandra York.

Kama I originally didn't recognize as Papa Shango, until I looked carefully at his tattoos.
Ditto Waylon Mercy as Dan Spivey, till he actually wrestled.
(Sidenote: in the time when I was totally into fan theorizing The Fiend, my idea was that he was an ancient being who possessed Dan Spivey back in the day and made him act like Waylon Mercy. Which was why later on, Bray Wyatt took so much from WM's appearance. I also added that he wanted to use and abandon Spivey as punishment for replacing Barry Windham. Then I blamed Windham's turn to the Horsemen on The Fiend, and yeah I'm going down the rabbit hole...)

I didn't know Raven was Johnny Polo. Didn't know The Godfather was Papa Shango.
Kane's debut, although still awesome, kind of disappointed me as a kid. Watching it happen live, I was like "that's the fake Diesel!" Could just tell by his walk, hair, and body it was him.

I can't really find good pictures to do this one justice, but Tony DeVito's transformation from long haired singlet wearing WWF jobber to bald jeans & t-shirt ECW jobber-to-the-stars.

I didn't recognize Doom as Ron Simmons and Butch Reed. Granted, I was like 6 at the time.

I watched WWF at the end of 1999 for the first time in over 4 years... When I saw Bad ass Billy Gunn I was like "What the hell?!!, last time I was watching you were a Cowboy..What happened?"
Had they not mentioned his name I never would have thought they were the same person.

After four pages, how could this have not been brought up? I didn't know they were the same person until years later when I read a wrestling almanac. I was also surprised they did a storyline on the transformation. Granted I was too young to remember, but still, I would've never made the connection between The One Man Gang and Akeem unless someone told me.

Also, if it wasn't for my brother(who had access to the dirt sheets at the time) telling me, I would've never guessed Mankind was Cactus Jack. I probably would've found out when they specifically mentioned it on air.
