I personally love how Bruce Prichard and Eric Bischoff having popular podcasts that literally rail Meltzer constantly has created fans that hate Dave.
OMG these guys who made a bunch of dumb decisions hate in Dave on don't cop to them, amazing.
But anyway it's pretty telling we live in a time where the WWE can trot out one of the company soldiers to shit on a reporter because they need a narrative spin. Which results in people eating it up...

We should start putting Meltzer quotes on the ban list. The guy is completely unreliable. The only reason Meltzer getting things wrong even ends up under a microscope is because of how trusted he is by and large. This is laughable. He got told some bad info here and he repeated it. He's not the people who make up unhinged nonsense.

IDK how many things he gets right, but I'm sure it has to be a decent amount Much more than he gets wrong. But that doesnt matter for people. We see a bunch of threads of his reports that are true, but the moment one of then is likely wrong "completely unreliable".

And when he's making predictions what do you expect? The WWE rips up scripts multiple times before shows.
Meltz has rock solid sources and frankly I think alot of this comes from thar he isn't a Vince fan and you can tell he likes AEW more than WWE so thar somehow pushes buttons.

It's odd to see empty seats on the none camera side since WWE always has seat fillers there that are given seats and their job for having a seat is to fill the none hard cam side when someone is out of their seats for a bit or leave.

Man it still seems like such a weirdo move to be a white knight for a wrestling journalist. To me atleast.

Evidently it was closer to 700
In my opinion. Before the Alexa segment, they had the tag match in which Nikki rolled up Natalya in a boring match. They had the Shayna/Nia match, which lets be honest, no one really cares about either of them. Also they had some goofy 24/7 title segment. So by the time, you got to two grown women arguing about dolls. I can see why some people were like "Yeah, enough. Lets get out of here and beat traffic. I got work tomorrow."

If you’ve ever been to a RAW or any WWE TV taping, you’ve undoubtedly seen people leave during the show. It’s incredibly common. And most often, it’s not as a direct reaction to a particular segment or performer, it’s simply that people just wanna go home because they have a long drive back home and work in the morning.
When WWE did Takeover, Survivor Series and RAW in Toronto, I had tickets to all three and I peaced out maybe an hour into RAW because I was just too tired to be there anymore.
Anyway, my point in all of this is that there were probably people who left during the Alexa/Charlotte segment and whoever it was who gave Dave the 1500 number probably exaggerated it and Dave ran with it when he shouldn’t have.
But as others have said before, Dave didn’t report this as gospel fact. It was as an aside to Bryan during their RAW recap.

Man it still seems like such a weirdo move to be a white knight for a wrestling journalist. To me atleast. I think it's more weird for a working wrestler to attack a journalist in a "let's simp for a company that doesn't care about me" Let's be real Bryan Alvarez is way harder on WWE than Dave ever is but it's always Dave they go after, it's an agenda move.

Man it still seems like such a weirdo move to be a white knight for a wrestling journalist. To me atleast. I ain't gonna white knight for Meltzer but the pattern of WWE stars constantly going after him and only him whether his point is right or wrong is much more a weirdo move to me than whoever might defend Meltzer. Nothing Meltzer says is gonna in the end effect WWE or their product. They constantly give him attention and flood more discourse about him and "Wrestling journalism" and it's a reason why this thread has as many pages as it does. And it's ALWAYS off a big dramatic event where they're trying to deflect shit and use a scapegoat. Like blatantly obviously so. If people left and it was more 700 than 1500 then the number was inflated and Dave was wrong on his assumption. But is people still left before the main event and if they pointedly left at this specific moment that's probably not good for the Charlotte/Bliss feud. I've said it before and I'll keep saying it but Meltzer drama is one of the weirdest and most toxic cycles I see around wrestling. And it's that way because actual mainstream professional wrestlers fan the flames instead of letting it simmer out on its own. They come out of it looking like goons when they didn't have to and Dave Meltzer just goes on with his life.

I feel like if anything we need to ban "news" from Meltzer's Podcast but not from WON.
They are usually the less reliable piece of info he gets and it is often passed around as solid facts even when he makes it clear it isnt.

It's because people don't understand that on the podcast he speaks in hypotheticals all the time. He'll say maybe or could and yet somehow that turns into Dave said this is for sure happening.

Let's be real Bryan Alvarez is way harder on WWE than Dave ever is... that's putting it mildly. pay-per-view has a bad match end with a dumb, overbooked finish. Alvarez goes on a 10-15 minute diatribe yelling at the top of his lungs about how stupid it was and how out of touch the people running the company are and how embarrassed the wrestlers should feel, and Meltzer goes "Yeah, um, well...uh, yeah...well, what are you gonna do? It was not a good match."

It was not a good match." Which is why I think it's calculated play. They go after the biggest name to get reaction. To me it's simple you get a good company soldier, Bliss, Rollins etc to attack Dave then fans of that performer or WWE fans who think they must support no matter what go into attack mode. Then it quickly gets the narrative off of something like dark side of the ring that frankly makes the whole company look bad. The WWE thinks they are wrestling and wants to control every narrative. Things like DSOTR and frankly Dave Meltzer annoy the shit out of them. Ask Bruce Prichard..

Maybe they're giving out bonuses for each Tweet: One day when if she doesn't work there any more she will realise how often she went hard on behalf of a company that barely cares if she lives or dies To be fair, it's herself she's defending. If someone erroneously said people left "in droves" during your segment on a TV show, wouldn't you want to publicly berate them for it?

Yes probably, but is amazing how many wrestlers will accuse Meltz of having zero sources, which definitely isn't true, or just making shit up, which even as often as he is inaccurate would make him some kind of soothsayer in a lot of cases.

This is an incredibly odd way to describe this series of events. That Alexa sought out poor Dave in a random act of standing up for WWE. Dave made a mean spirited an obviously factually wrong comment about her - not the WWE. He didn't say the show was so bad that people left, he said that literally circa 20% of the crowd got up and bolted because they hated her segment. That then got picked up by multiple other online sources (and reported as a credible story from Dave Meltzer) and found its way into her mentions. Again, mentions criticising her, not the WWE.

Dave Meltzer could have a sandwich named after him made with tuna and cheese called "Davez Melter."
