www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgBsJZPQdjcDuring this storyline, the ECW team was portrayed as faces. They were feuding with Ray’s GM Eric Bischoff and his team. During this clip, Eric gets the impression that he has one upped Paul by calling him out. Paul comes out with Team 3D. They give the false impression that they are running away but they are only coming out to the ring in a different fashion. Paul: “We never back down from ANYBODY!” With that, the ECW music plays and more ECW wrestlers come down through the crowd. Yes, this was one moment where the faces outsmarted the heels. Soon after, the big brawl erupts with Eric and his team running like scalded dogs (as JR would say). And who could forget this… www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEnti7a74bII loved it when Paul gets on the mic and addresses the Raw team and says: “BUT, I GOT SOMETHING TO SAY TO YOU.” Later on, Paul addresses JBL of the Smackdown team by saying: “The only reason why you were Champion for a year is because HHH didn’t want to work Tuesdays.” JBL’s reaction was hysterical. He simulates a heart attack and it looks like he is saying: “Elizabeth…Elizabeth…”

The ECW InVasion stuff leading up to the ONS shows is often great but really makes me angrier with hindsight about the 2001 InVasion.
Where was ANY of this booking before? There are loads of reasons why it didn't happen previously and almost all of them were based on stupid beliefs the WWF had about the fans and the ECW guys, all disproved by these segments.
Imagine there being a single homegrown WCW or ECW guy that got to look as credible in 2001 as Sabu did in 2006.
The first ONS sold huge. Imagine how big that show would have been in July 2001. For the ECW portion of that angle, unlike WCW, you had a load of their biggest names already.
f***ing idiots, so stupid they can't even capitalism right.

They had to avoid a lot of ECW stuff as they did not own the trademarks yet. Thats why they pushed The Alliance name so much. But the booking and what not is absolutely them flushing money down the drain to avoid having to push stars they didnt create.

Sabu putting Cena through the announcers table was legit the moment that got me back into wrestling. My buddy and I were heading out to a bar, I was flipping through the channels and saw that and was like YO!
