Kinda hard to pick given there's been so many bad moments.

It's interesting how many of these examples could, in just the right light, get a pass as "well, it's a heel being a heel, they'll get their comeuppance in the end", which is often a line I agree with, but how quickly that falls apart when the reality sets in: that until very recently, it seems like nearly every storyline involving women in WWE history revolved around misogynistic tropes. You could excuse a few of these in a vacuum, but the sheer volume of them pretty quickly makes it too overwhelming to ignore.
But yeah, the number of them that just straight-up revolve around insulting a woman's body, calling her "crazy", slut-shaming, etc.? A bunch of them don't even have that fig leaf to make them slightly more acceptable, they're just bad all the way down.
Glad they've gotten better about it in recent times, and WWE certainly hasn't been the only perpetrator on this front over the years, but it does all add up so quick when you see it listed.

Jeff Jarrett... Alot towards the end I still contest one of the most baffling, yet Russoific, moments in WWF history was at Unforgiven 1999, where everyone openly beat up Chaz for "allegedly" assaulting his girlfriend (he would ultimately be exonerated of any wrongdoing) while Jeff Jarrett was blatantly misogynistic, insulting women directly to their faces, and being violent towards them with guitar shots and physical assault but... nah, it's cool. If you had to do the unthinkable and defend Russo's booking, Jarrett was the IC champ and at a high level while Chaz was pretty much as the bottom of the card so anyone could go after him, yet it remained amazing how this went on with nobody stepping up except for Chyna.

I've heard before that Vince didn't like a lot of the Attitude Era and was just following trends. The Diva Search feels like the most potent argument against that, because that trashbag shit started in 2003 and Diss the Diva was 2004. 2004. Look at what the prime time TV hits of 2004 were. There's no way. There's no f***ing way. Well they clung onto the Attitude Era "trends" until they HAD to go PG after Benoit. Someone mentioned Mickie...there's its cousin, the Fat Molly/Virgin Molly nonsense. Not sure if it counts, but another anti-PSW bit could be Bertha Faye being protrayed as a villain and needing to look like Roseanne because Rhonda Singh was a PSW. I'm sure we can name a lot of promo and commentary moments where people talked about heel women cruelly. Would that 2018 angle with Nia Jax and Alexa Bliss qualify for this topic? That was hard to watch. On top of that, Alexa hated doing that storyline. In some segments, it wasn't hard to see some discomfort in saying that stuff about Nia's weight.

The diva search. Just the diva search. All of it. Although diss the diva was a particular low. There's some ways of justifying the attitude era stuff but this was way after that point and had very little entertainment value. I'm gonna ramble a bit, but one of the things that bug me a bit about both wrestling in general and when fans discuss the nature of WWE's TV rating (at least, back in the early 2010s) is that the problem with WWE content on their programming wasn't that they are beholden to the ratings they are bound by, but rather what they do with them. Effectively, you can either make the most of what you have with a mixture of various styles and experiments, or squander it by being the Fart and Burp Hour cuz that's the easiest thing to do. Back in the 2000s, when they were TV-14, WWE programming was crass and juvenile, largely a result of them chasing or attempting to recapture the success of the Attitude Era. The "Ruthless Aggression" period is just littered with depressing moments that reek of desperation by a company that assumed shock value alone was what got them big ratings in the late 1990s. And it wasn't like, after they moved to TV-PG, suddenly the company became high brow or sophisticated, either. The beginning of the transition saw things like "JBL is Poopy" as well as "Mr. Ziggles". Rather than write with the mindset of the bathroom, they began writing as if the entire audience was six years old. In the Attitude Era, the culture of America was edgy, gross-out, and angry; as if society was pissed off all at once. However, a few years later, the only contemporaries WWE had were maligned reality TV shows like "Fear Factor" or daytime television like "Maury" while the entertainment industry wanted to look at programming that focused more on character development or closeness to reality in that phony Hollywood way instead of kicking each other in the crotch. The success WWE got was fleeting, yet rather than accept that and cycle through the change by deciding on a new direction, the company just kept doing the same old junk, meaning wrestling looked stupid. Worse, because other parties in wrestling try to emulate the WWE, this meant anything WWE did, various other promotions would just do what WWE did without the budget instead of attempting something else, further giving wrestling that "old room stink". So, when you turn on the TV and, even in 2004 when gay people and minorities still weren't exactly "accepted" on television unless they were on a specific show made for that kind of audience, you see women in thongs seeking approval by debasing themselves every week, it don't look right. It never was right. I know that comes off as pious towards wrestling, but how was that considered "okay"?

Triple H randomly mocking Lillian Garcia during a promo. The worst part is she was only there as a favour because most of the roster was stuck in Europe.

Moments like these are why I will never romanticize "Papa H" or any other aspect of HHH's career. He has been and always will be a massive douchebag.

95% of the time women were on-screen between 1999 and 2015.

The "piss ant company" comment at the Hall of Fame shows he your comment is accurate. He's just been in a different position that requires less of DX Hunter and more COO Paul Levesque.

Vince forcing Sable to show her rear end to a live audience then proceeding to kiss her cheeks. The incest angle where we saw promos of a guy at home with his mother in what was clearly a mother/son relationship Later, Stephanie admitted that Vince wanted her to have a storyline where he would claim to be the Father of Stephanie’s unborn child. Lita in bed with Edge. Trish and the whole angle before Mania 17 where she was with McMahon sedating Linda so they could do and say what they wanted. There are so many that come to mind I also remember Jacqueline in ring topless on top of Sgt Slaughters shoulders. The attitude era was crazy but entertaining but the first one on this list was after raw went off air so that was just McMahon being the biggest perv on the planet and I believe Sable sued him and got a deal where she didn’t have to do any bumps but have a reign as womens champion. Another top one for me is how they played down Luna V She could cut one of the best promos in wrestling Her promo against Sable was amazing I’m going to take her Estée Lauder face and turn it into a Andy Warhol original But then she was forced to put someone over who couldn’t wrestle in the worst way. McMahon told her Bruise Sable and you’re fired

An underrated one. How about Flair spending his last televised pick on Lita in the draft in 2002 and instead of acknowledging it as this massive shock deal, Vince buries Flair and women as a whole. While referring to one of the biggest risk takers in the whole company. Embarrassing

The entire point of that was that Beth was a heel and being totally disingenuous. Also to show the roster was trying to oust HHH because they were scared of Truth/Miz. Christ, that was a dumb segment

Christ, that was a dumb segment I have to rewatch it but it would work if there was a more heel vs face split where the heels complain. The faces now what't up (What's up) maybe have a couple being on either side to do a face heel turn. To have the whole roster not want to take part cause of it besides the super baby faces is ridiculous.... let alone the fact they all wrestled Smackdown cause at that time who gives a shit about smackdown is stupid.

At the Wrestlemania 18 Fan Axxess they had a to scale bronze model made of Stacy Kieblers legs and bum. They interviewed her intercut with footage of fans taking photos with their hands all over it. The interview was as awkward as you would expect. Somewhat off topic, but I think that trophy was the PS2 Memory Card icon for 'Here Comes the Pain'
