Masato Tanaka no selling those vicous Mike Awesome chairshots made him look like a badass.
Tanaka no selling a german suplex, screaming and then getting immediately clotheslined was hilarious just for the crowd reaction of
OOOOOOHHHHHYYYYYYEEEEAAAHHHHOOOOHHHHH

I'm generally for them playing it off that a wrestler missed a dropkick/tope rope move/whatever instead of pretending it landed perfectly when they were off by a mile. It's very believable that's something that could happen, and it makes it seem more realistic than acting like they nailed it.
Especially good when it's accompanied by the "I don't think he got all of it!" call.

Not sure if it counts because it was comical overselling but Hogan/HBK WOD have been dreadful if they had an actual match.

Undefeated streak Goldberg no selling various big moves on his way to the title certainly helped his career and WCW.

I still remember people arguing that CM Punk did something wrong when he kicked out at one in his ROH title match against Austin Aries after he got hit with his own Pepsi Plunge. As someone who was in the crowd for that match, hell no, that kick out took an already hot crowd and made it nuclear. I feel like that what makes the “FIGHTING SPIRIT~!” No-sells work. There’s something fascinating about being so enraged that shit doesn’t even register in real time, albeit for only a moment or two. Even Goku does it for hope spots, that’s how you know it’s great. The emotion is definitely at the heart of it, that pure "I will NOT BE DENIED!" kind of moment where the hero's music starts playing in the background of (insert shonen anime here), that kind of thing. But hell, even from a more realistic point of view? Not every attack a person does on another person results in the victim immediately being out cold, or suddenly having a limp, etc. When a wrestling match feels like a real fight, I can easily buy that adrenaline, whether over one wrestler's eyes being on the prize of victory or between two wrestlers with intense animosity duking it out, can cause someone to ignore the pain or not even register their injuries for at least a few moments. The idea that that somehow makes a match feel less realistic kind of baffles me.

What made me get it was Kenny kicking out at one in his Lights Out match with Moxley. It was a panic kick because he knew if he didn't move soon he was done. Then suddenly the Fighting Spirit kickout stopped annoying me?

Bubba Rogers no selling Dusty's chairshot. And Dusty re-created that with Meng years later with Col. Parker in the Jim Cornette role.
