As awesome as The Sarah Jane Adventures was, most Doctor Who spin-offs have been a mixed bag at best. I'm not really sure this is a direction they should be too concerned with at this point.

I do like the idea of a spiritual follow-up to SJA, where it's a rotating group of ex-companions like Ace and Tegan and whoever you could have available for an episode or two, investigating strange goings-on.
My main concern with any spin-offs is not to stretch things too thin, and not to replicate too much of the main show. Reason why I think an Eighth Doctor spin-off could be a bit trickier than it might first appear. Plus I don't think McGann wants to commit to a long-term series, and fair enough, really.

Shocked there isn't a Torchwood announcement here since they're talking Doctor Who spinoffs. Jack Harkness is still pretty beloved.

Unfortunately, John Barrowman's had a history of exposing himself to coworkers (even after being warned many times) and after the Noel Clarke abuse came out, it finally caught up to him, and a lot of things featuring him have been cancelled since. It's a pity as Jack was a formative character, one of the first bisexual representation on British TV, but yeah.

The Sarah Jane Adventures ended at least a year before BBC ONE scrapped it's CBBC block. With the CBBC channel closing down soon, BBC could revive the strand, if there is a new spin-off aimed at the kids, it'll be as if CBBC on ONE had never been away between RTD era productions.

Finally started on Season 11! I'm going in with low expectations.
I'm up through episode 4, Arachnids in the UK
Loving the cast. Jodie Whitaker is delightful. The writing is definitely the weakest part of the show and I don't think I've hit the really poorly received stuff yet.
Coincidentally hit the Rosa Parks episode at the start of Black History Month. My wife enjoyed it, and I was frankly too tired to argue. SUCKED may be too strong, but it was extremely corny and missed an opportunity to do anything remotely interesting.

Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Moffatt did do great work under RTD but left to his own devices he was a hack and terrible and I don't want him anywhere near Doctor Who again.

I'm actually optimistic about Moffat writing again. His best stuff was either when RTD was showrunning or when he wasn't hitting burnout from doing Who, Sherlock, and Tintin, so the show's in a good condition for some quality episodes.

I'm good with this, Moffatt 's run with 11 was my favorite stuff in Doctor Who until Clara joined the show. Even then we got some solid stuff here and there. Not always a fan of shows going back to old show runners to recapture what made it good because it rarely works, but Doctor Who has been needing a bit of a reset.
