Santino wins in flukey fashion, and people start talking about how it’s a disgrace someone like Santino won and the Mania title match is gonna be a blowout. Over the next few weeks we have Santino in some Rocky style training segments played for laughs in the build to Mania.

In the match itself Santino gives a spirited underdog performance before ultimately coming up short.

Power and Glory beat LOD at WM7 and get a couple years as one of the preeminent tag teams in WWF.

Came here to say this.   I'd alter it slightly: You do the Rocky stuff, but not as much for laughs. He does a sitdown with Cole or whoever and says something along the lines of "I hear it.  People call me a joke, but while they've laughed, I've won a few titles along the way. At Wrestlemania, no matter the outcome, I promise that people won't laugh at me when it's over"

He gives the effort of his life but *just* falls short. 

You give him credibility and more importantly, you give credibility to the idea that truly anyone can win the Rumble
